M.J. Colewood | 1 comments Hi, I'm M.J. Colewood, author of The Last Treasure of Ancient England (an adventure mystery) and lover of YA fiction. Among my favourite YA authors are: J.K. Rowling and Phillip Pullman - they really draw you into the story with their descriptive writing. I also love The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - it's a great concept and keeps you turning the pages until the very end. I'm looking forward to being part of the group.

~Reading Rambler~ (readingrambler) | 7 comments My name is Reece, my favorite book . . . hmmm probably Throne of Glass by Sarah j. Maas. that book was sooooo good. Jillian Reynolds (Jillian Loves Books) (jmreynolds92) | 1 comments Hey everyone! My name's Jillian, and I've been on goodreads for years, but I've never quite jumped into any groups. So I feel like I should (FINALLY) give it a shot! My favorite book of all time is definitely The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman, and my favorite series in His Dark Materials (close seconds are Red Rising and The Infernal Devices). I guess you could say Philip Pullman is my favorite author, and I also can appreciate the writing style of Sarah J. Maas, as well. Morgan Matson books are also usually an auto-buy for me, so I guess she's another favorite, too! I love YA and it's my go-to genre when I need to relax my mind and escape the real world. I look forward to getting to know everyone here a bit better.

Feel free to add me as a friend, as I don't have enough reader friends in the real world. :)

message 5604: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Cassatt Hey there! My name is Teresa and obviously I love YA and fiction. So here are a few of my favourite authors: J.K.Rowling, Dan Brown, Sarah Maas, Sabaa Tahir, Leigh Bardugo,... as you can see I am a bit obsessed with fantasy books. But I also enjoy reading classics like Austen, Christie and Doyle. This year I try to catch up on my reading list and hope to get inspirations for new books from this forum.

message 5605: by Jess (new)

Jess (jessyhill) | 1 comments Hello!

My name is Jessica and I’ve been obsessed with reading since I could. I love anything that can take me out of the real world and take me somewhere else.

Sarah J. Maas is my current author obsession. I love the throne of glass series and really anything she writes. I love to read things about the supernatural as well. I love to read horror too. I am currently writing a book and have been for years, so maybe one day I’ll finish it. 😂

I’ve been on Goodreads for a bit, but this is my first group and I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing. I am excited to interact with people who like to read what I do and get ideas for new books to check out. 😁

Ellie (EllBell1104) | 1 comments Hi Guys!
I'm Ellie, and my current author obsession is Colin Meloy. I have always loved reading, and I always will. With three little brothers, things can get hectic sometimes, so a good book is always on standby to escape to. I hope that this group will be good to find new books to read, and maybe to get inspiration to write. And of course, I am doing my Part by recommending the Wildwood series, by Colin Meloy. Wildwood (Wildwood Chronicles, #1) by Colin Meloy

message 5613: by David (new)

David Patneaude | 16 comments Hi, I'm Dave (David, professionally, but nobody's ever accused me of being professional). I'd tell you how long I've been addicted to reading, but that would just about give away my age, which wouldn't be a pretty thing. I also have a longtime addiction to YA, both as a reader and writer, although I don't believe YA officially existed when I was a kid. I tended to mine my parents' vast stores of adult books to find something that would appeal to me. I remember finding A Tree Grows in Brooklyn in my dad's library and being impressed with how authentic it felt and how much it opened up a different (grownup) world to me. In high school I read The Catcher in the Rye, which at the time seemed coolly irreverent, and maybe that one could be considered YA. Where the Red Fern Grows? Possibly. But now YA literature is everywhere. Some of it has been hugely popular, read by young and not-so-young. Some of it is as good or better than the so-called adult stuff that lands on best seller lists. Remind people of that when they glance at what you're reading and raise a skeptical eyebrow at something by Elizabeth Wein or Patrick Ness or Suzanne Collins or Philip Pullman or Christopher Paul Curtis or Ruta Sepetys or Sharon Draper or Rainbow Rowell or MT Andersen or Kwame Alexander or Andrew Smith or Maggie Stiefvater or Walter Dean Myers. Tell the doubter to give a YA a test drive and THEN come back and talk about it.

message 5614: by Celestial (new)

Celestial (celestialjoy) | 1 comments Hello everyone, my name is Celestial. YA books are some of my favorites. I am really into fantasy books and would love any recommendations. My favorite book would have to be A Court of Mist and Fury. Although my favorite author is probably Pierce Brown. I adore his writing style and how deep everything in his books run. I have actually been in this group for a while, but I wanted to do this as a sort of recommit myself, because I haven't exactly been active.
I would love to talk books with you all. I really want to make some bookish friends.

message 5616: by Janvi (new)

Janvi (janvipatel) Hey, I'm Janvi but people call me Jane or Vannie and with many other names (there's a short story behind all my names. I've got around 5 or 10 different names by friends and relatives). I'm 14 and I've recently been addicted to YA. And it's been few months that I've started reading. Before I found so boring to read. But now I discovered how stupid it was to think that. I know it sounds crazy but thanks to my best friend who pushed me to read my first book, divergent. It was amazing to experience. Since then I've been reading books and lots of books. I read a lot and very fast. I've completed around 70 books in past few months. I can't believe it myself. And now my best friend teases me by saying that why I hated to read. And now that I've started to read, then I'm not stopping.
Well, one of my favorite authors is Cassandra Clare, Veronica Roth, Sarah J Mass and many more...

K.C. Nicola | 30 comments Ehm...hello! I don't give out my real name publicly, but you can call me by my alter ego Rina. Reading is an interest and passion I've had for a majority of my life, and I also plan to write some of my own books someday~

I'm not into much "mainstream" YA - I prefer indie and lesser-known novels, truth be told - but I'll read just about anything that catches my interest, regardless of genre.

It's nice to meet you all!

message 5623: by Tessa (new)

Tessa Clare | 4 comments Hi guys!

My name's Tessa. I got into YA because I was in denial over my book being labeled "young adult" (I was like, "Ahem, you're putting me in the same category as Twilight?"), but I finally started getting into it a year ago. Now, it's most of what I read (let's be real - adult problems aren't nearly as interesting).

My favorite of all time is "The Hunger Games," which I read as a teenager; but I recently got into "Under the Never Sky" by Veronica Rossi. I'm also a sucker for John Green, even though his books make me cry.

Cayla (cayla2019365) | 18 comments Hi, my name is Cayla and I am a huge bookworm, but aren't we all? I am really into YA fiction. Specifically romance, drama, mystery, dystopian and fantasy. With that in mind, some of my absolute favorite authors are Marie Lu, JK Rowling, James Dashner, Rick Riordan, and Cassandra Clare. I can't possibly list all the authors I love and have loved or books that I have read or else I'd run out of characters. I don't have a favorite book because I love each one for different reasons but PJO and TMI/TID will always have a special place in my heart for helping me discover my passion for reading. I have an Instagram where I list some of the books I've read recently. (i_like_books_7313) <-- real original, right? I always love chatting about books, characters and new series. :)

message 5639: by Avery (new)

Avery (chronicpandaeyes) | 1 comments So... I'm Avery. This is my very first book club. I only started getting into reading a year back. Since I'm a slow reader, I haven't read many books. But I really enjoy fantasy, thriller/mystery books.

So far, I really enjoy Sarah J. Maas' and Jonathan Stroud's writing. I'm currently reading Scott Lynch's The Lies of Locke Lamora and I find myself really enjoying his style.

I haven't read many series thus far, but I do enjoy the Throne of Glass series (Throne of Glass), the Pendergast series (Relic), as well as the Lockwood & Co. series (The Screaming Staircase). I have a feeling, the Gentleman Bastard series (The Lies of Locke Lamora) will also be a favorite series of mine.

Also, I really wish we can like comments on GR. Some of your introductions are really awesome and funny.

Kearsie (permanentrose) hello! I'm Kearsie. I've been on goodreads for many years now, but I've only recently begun to explore all the features of this site. I have a somewhat long commute to work, so I love to listen to audiobooks on my drive. It's a really great way to "read" even on my busiest days. I also love art, embroidery, and writing. I'm excited to immerse myself into the social aspects of this site!

My favorite YA author is Hilary McKay, who writes the Casson Family Series. A delightful series about an eccentric family where all the kids are named after paint colors. I tend to like realistic fiction best.

message 5648: by sora maria (last edited Mar 08, 2018 05:24AM) (new)

sora maria (sunnynacia) Hello there ! My name is Sunny, I'm 19 and I'm French / live in France.

I've been into YA for years now and joining bookstagram has been a turning point in my reading experience. I went from reading the same old Young Adult books from my local bookshop to discovering that there was a whole world out there for me, so many subgenres and a lot of awesome people to talk about books with.

I have a different favorite author for every literature genre but for YA it'd have to be Jandy Nelson, Becky Albertalli, Sabaa Tahir and Renee Ahdieh.

sea (seasik) | 2 comments Hi! I'm C, I'm 18 at the moment and I love to read and write. I'm South African, but I spend my time living between Cape Town and England.

I don't really necessarily have a favourite book or author due to the fact that my reading preferences are so wide - I love so many genres and different styles of writing that I can't specify just one person, book, or series!

Though, I did recently start a blog (https://inkblottings.wordpress.com/) where I post book reviews, general life posts, thoughts, opinion pieces, and generally whatever I feel like is good enough to go up!

I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing yet and I'm still trying to find my way - in the blogging community and in general life - but I would love to get to know anybody who feels like sending me a friend request!
Thanks for taking the time to read this :)
