Yes, you've put your new topic in the right place. It's a good topic.
I haven't read any of the books you mentioned but I like the idea of seeing similarities in books.
By coincidence, today I was at book club meeting at our local senior citizen center where we talked about books which were written by men who were dying (not a happy subject). We mentioned the following books:
_Tuesdays with Morrie_ by Mitch Albom
_To Soon To Say Goodbye_ by Art Buchwald
_Gilead_ by Marilynne Robinson
and another book which I can't remember.
The books dealt with wise advice learned from experience.
I wonder if anyone else has seen similarities in books.
I have read a few books over the past few weeks & there was such a strong connection between the books that I wanted to share it with someone. I had no idea while I was choosing these books that I would find this pattern. Each one of these novels took place during or after WWII, all in different parts of Europe & from various points of view...
Skeletons at the Feast
Sarah's Key
The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Society
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
I learned so much from each of the books. I am amazed at what I was not taught in my high school history classes.
Of the 4 books, Guernsey was the most light-hearted & told in the form of letters.
They each had their heart wrenching moments....some parts were beautiful & other parts were like reading about a nightmare....
Has anyone read any of these books?
