I do, it's just that I really don't want to read a school assigned book for leisure time reading. it's called the contender. *sigh*

Carolyn (carly1967) | 39 comments I generally tend to read several different things at once. Here's my current list:
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg (this is a reread) - a creative writing book I love!!
Make Your Creative Dreams Real by SARK
Making Differentiation a Habit by Diane Heacox - for teaching - I'm always trying to improve

message 95: by Amy (new)

Amy (amy_bookworm) | 504 comments Oh, you're a teacher? That's cool ;) I haven't read any of them... :P
I'm currently reading, well... You can go see!

message 96: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn (carly1967) | 39 comments I'm currently a supply teacher so I have lots of time to read and write. Last year I had a teaching position filling in for a teacher on maturity leave - I get so focused on my students and planning for their lessons I have little time for much else.

message 97: by Amy (new)

Amy (amy_bookworm) | 504 comments I guess it depends what age you teach- if it was at the High then you'd only do one subject & although you're more likely to give out homework lots of the teachers ask us to tell them how we like the lesson (eg. My Geog teacher asked us if we'd like 15 minutes discussion on our assessment & so in a way, she doesn't have to teach.)
I've been moved German sets this year & I'm doing some stuff the other teacher taught. And they use exactly the same thing XD Clearly sharing within the department!

message 98: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn (carly1967) | 39 comments I teach at the elementary level - all subjects. Last year I did a long term placement in a special education class - I was teaching math and language to grade 2, 5 and 8 students. I was way to busy to read anything beyond school stuff and the occasional romance for pure escape reading.

message 99: by Amy (new)

Amy (amy_bookworm) | 504 comments That's sometimes what homework does. Overwhelm you. But half the time it's Art & I love Art, so I don't feel like it's a whole in my freetime- sure, I can't be reading, but I never only want to read- as you can see because I'm here ;) I spend too much time on goodreads XD

Vyanni Krace ~Wisdom of the bitter sea.~ (vyannikrace) | 87 comments I just finished reading The Mark of Athena: The Mark of Athena (Heroes of Olympus, #3) by Rick Riordan and The Power of Five: Oblivion. Oblivion (The Gatekeepers, #5) by Anthony Horowitz =^_^= They're both brilliant and I highly recommend them both...but read the rest of the series first of course.
