The first book in a long time that I've had a ton of fun reading. Not that I've been trudging through all the other books I've been reading, but this one was just a breath of fresh air. Exciting and unexpected.
What if William Howard Taft, after losing his re-election bid in 1912, disappeared completely from the public scene. His disappearance is a mystery until 2011 when he reawakens, apparently having fallen into a fitful slumber for 99 years. What would people do with a newly minted former president? How would he react to life in he 21st century? And will this affect the election landscape, coming 100 years after his last bid for the presidency?
Both a way to reexamine our political system and a hopeful paean to what America can be, this book is both funny and thoughtful.
Helps if you don't mind time travel, jokes about bathtubs, and a little bit of punk rock music.
