I'm only about 30 or 40 pages into this, and after talking to a friend who read it, she said that there was some mature content in it... is 12 (my age) ok to be reading it??

It really isn't that bad. It's an amazing book and I loved it!!! But its all up to you if it gets to a point were its a little too much just stop reading. ButI would recommend keep reading I woudn't be able to stop :) I am 14 and I was okay.
I don't think you should; I'm fifteen and I skipped huge parts of it. It's really not that good of a book anyways.
umm i would say wait a bit there was some stuff i didn't see coming that was more mature but in the end it's tottaly up to you but i would say if you still feel like reading it in a year or two do but just not right now.
There was stuff that was questionable that I totally didn't see coming. It's really unnecessary and annoying, plus the book isn't very good anyway. Just save your time.
12? It really depends on what you normally read but yes there is definately some mature content in this book, and it deserves a warning. Maybe wait a couple years

I read it a little bit ago and I am twelve (ahem.) I ended up thinking that it would have been a lot, lot better without it!
I read the book when I was fifteen/sixteen and I didnt think it was too bad. I liked the book a lot and am actually friends with the author on Facebook. I think you should continue reading. There are going to be more books out there that are like this, some even worse. So keep reading, its really all up to you and what you're comfortable with.
