Yep, that's how those damn indies suck us in. Give us their first book and make us love them, then charge exorbitant prices for the rest of their stuff.Bastards.
;)
I forgot about this thread!
I read How To Choose A Sweetheart when it was free and loved it. There were quite a few typos in my copy but I know that the author is in the process off uploading an edited copy - so if you haven't read it yet, check the "manage my kindle" section on amazon for an update.

I got the first book in the XBestia series for free and *loved* it. It's a YA sci-fi novel. Very exciting and with a nice romance to boot. I haven't read the sequel, but it's on my 'Kindle' and in my TBR pile.
That's aweful Lynne - it is also good to keep the blisters intact - if possible - as they are the body's natural cushion to protect the area from further harm while the underneath has time for the healing processes to take place. Blisters also seal the underlying area from infection. It isn't always possible to keep them intact but it does help a lot if you can.
I got these both free and thought they were great. Both same title but different authors. Shattered. Shattered.

Patti, please look up the world 'exorbitant'. I do not think that it means what you think it means.
I got Zombie, Inc. for free on the 10th (I think you have to pay for it now) and absolutely loved it from start to finish. It's a zombie book, so I was expecting the same thing reeled out with a different context. You've read one zombie book, you've read them all and even Stephan king couldn't bring much new to the table, but this story was fresh and interesting and funny.
I'm currently rereading Mrs. MikeMrs. Mike I first read this story many (many ) years ago and remember being utterly captivated by this true story of a 15yr old girl who goes to Calgary to recover from pleurisy. She marries a Mountie and goes off with him to live in the Northern Frontier. I am 30% in and loving it all over again.I have checked and it's still free today (8th Nov.)
Oh my.Mrs Mike was one of the books on the reading list in my final year at school.
How on earth did you find it, Sarah?
From a work colleague Patti!I stayed in bed till 11am this morning reliving Kathy's adventures. Fantastic!
Ooh, thanks for the tip, Sarah. It's still free today so I've nabbed it!
I read this when it came out as a Barington Stokes book for adults who struggle with reading. This kindle is revamped and it's superb. Allan Guthrie's a champ. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kill-Clock-Al... Kill Clock!
I bought my copy of this, but it is free just now over at Angry Robot - http://angryrobotbooks.com/a-seasonal...It's an urban fantasy about a woman who sees the death of people when she touches their skin and it's really gripping as she has a dilema with her 'skill' early on.
Just noticed http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004PLNNLS... is free again. The Sable City. I have recently read this and really enjoyed it
http://www.amazon.co.uk/1632-Ring-Fir...1632 is an odd science fiction/historical fiction fusion. A small town in America is dropped into Medievel Europe circa 1632
The author splices life in Europe during this turbulent period with the arrival of great 21st century technology. It seems weird and it is.
I was telling someone at work about it and went on amazon to find it was free!

-------------
In the year 1632 in northern Germany a reasonable person might conclude that things couldn't get much worse. There was no food. Disease was rampant. For over a decade religious war had ravaged the land and the people. Catholic and Protestant armies marched and countermarched across the northern plains, laying waste the cities and slaughtering everywhere. In many rural areas population plummeted toward zero. Only the aristocrats remained relatively unscathed; for the peasants, death was a mercy.
2000 Things are going OK in Grantville, West Virginia. The mines are working, the buck are plentiful (it's deer season) and everybody attending the wedding of Mike Stearn's sister (including the entire membership of the local chapter of the United Mine Workers of America, which Mike leads) is having a good time.
THEN, EVERYTHING CHANGED....
When the dust settles, Mike leads a small group of armed miners to find out what's going on. Out past the edge of town Grantville's asphalt road is cut, as with a sword. On the other side, a scene out of Hell; a man nailed to a farmhouse door, his wife and daughter Iying screaming in muck at the center of a ring of attentive men in steel vests. Faced with this, Mike and his friends don't have to ask who to shoot.
At that moment Freedom and Justice, American style, are introduced to the middle of The Thirty Years War.
At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management)."
Started The Woods yesterday and so far, I'm really enjoying it.It's still free right now, so if you enjoy a thriller it's worth grabbing.

Is this not meant to be a thread for readers to recommend books they got free rather than a place for authors to promote their free books? We have a dedicated thread for that elsewhere.
Anyone who is into sci-fi and fantasy might like this free box set. It contains 8 first in series novels and so far they’re all good, although I can only speak for seven of them because I wrote the eighth. You can find those here:

Are you ready for the end?.
An ancient tomb is unearthed live on cable TV after months of hype. It's billed as the archeological equivalent of Shark Week. The actual footage takes a turn no one ever expected. Those minutes of footage will be combed over by governments worldwide seeking to understand what horror came out of that tomb.
They watched the news for weeks as an infection spread quickly across the globe. The videos posted online of people ripping into each other like cannibals on PCP were unreal. The support from the authorities was a joke. No one had a plan in place for this. At least not a plan that involved saving everyone...
Join a tight knit family of outcasts who'll do anything for one another as they battle their way through this freak show. A reality where might makes right and the only thing worse than running out of food and water is running out of ammunition.
