KaDee Mockingjay ended (ended-that's the keyword) pretty good, and if you think about it, there's not really any substance for a 4th book. It would be kinda cool if she could did some perquels about previous hunger games, though.

message 103: by Ally (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ally I think there should be one for the Hunger Games with the Capitol kids.

Melody I think there should be one for the Hunger Games with the Capitol kids. - Ally

That would be AMAZING! But apparently they never actually had the Hunger Games with the Capitol's kids as Coin died.

I think her writing is excellent, there's nothing wrong with it.

Tiffany I would love a fourth book! But in the past, like in Gale's point of view when Katniss left for the first hunger games!

Mersedes Dee wrote: "I don't know about a full 4th book, maybe an anthology of short stories - Haymich's, Finnicks etc"

Ooohh I like that idea! It'd be neat to see other stories(:

Jennifer Lorin wrote: "Haymitch's view of his Hunger Games. My Lord, I would devour that book!"

YES. That would be the coolest.

message 109: by GW (new) - rated it 4 stars

GW No. It's a trilogy for a reason, and I feel like the fourth book would ruin the series even more. I don't want more to change. It already ended, and you can't just keep on adding more to it - which somehow always makes it worse. For example, some series have 10 novels... Doesn't it get boring after a while? Most likely.

I can think of plenty things wrong with her writing.

Collins is a terrible world builder. She did barely any research for these books. She wouldn't know a tyrannical government it bit her in the but, let alone how the people running the government and the people living under the government act. She has no idea how people who are starving or are in a starvation situation behave.

She's terrible at developing her characters. They act for little thought or reason. Katniss is supposed to be the hero we all root for but I found myself despising her for being so rudely judgmental of everyone. There are so many exceptions made for Katniss so Katniss doesn't have to suffer or look bad that she begins to turn into a Mary Sue, in my eyes at least. To make matters worse, Katniss would have been better off dead in the last two books. She would make a better figure head than an actual revolutionary.

Collins' chosen point of view for the story, first person present tense, was a horribly done. She doesn't know how to write in the POV decently at all. She's not nearly skilled enough of a writer to pull it off. Her characters have so many unnatural thoughts that it's hard to believe they're supposed to be people. Also, Sentence fragments. Not a sign of good writing.

I completely agree with you.

Priscilla Nope but I would like a redo of the third book for sure!

Katherine Priscilla wrote: "Nope but I would like a redo of the third book for sure!"

I agree

Lauren I think that there should be another book like a sequal so that we know more about Haymitch's family that he lost and how the dark days started. So it will be like Haymitch is old and he is telling us his side of the story.

I completely disagree.

Ascel Kadhem NO WAY! I can't stand Katniss! I only finished the series for Peeta. I don't want a forth book.

another series involved hunger games

I can't agree with you more... I mean she called that an epilogue? The story's end was vague in a sense that she didn't elaborate in terms of the life of each of the living characters...

Kaitlin I think a 4th book would ruin it.Plus the way she ended it...she ended it. There's no story left unless she went all the way back to the begining and did a different point of view and while I kind of think that would be cool I dont think it would work. She did a FANTASTIC trilogy and I think we should leave it at that. Adding another book would be over kill and would very likely ruin what Suzanne Collins as built. Plus if she added on what would she do? Katniss and Peeta are grown and aren't the same. There's no Gale, Prim, Finnick, Cinna, or anyone really and seeing as how she ended it with Katniss and Peeta all grown up it's very likely that Haymitch would also be gone. Plus I almost died after reading Mockingjay and I personally couldn't handle anymore.

Kaitlin Kholee wrote: "Well, i love this 4th book idea, but i don't like it if this book is around Katniss' timeline. I will like it if that book is about The First Hunger Games or The Quell story."

Now that would be soooo cool! To show the first Hunger Games...and it wouldn't even really be a 4th book...It would be someone elses story. I guess it would be a prequel which would make it the 4th one...yeah. Anyway, and I would actually kind of like to see it from the point of view of a tribute that dies.

Kristen I think a prequel would be interesting. I don't know about a sequel though. I don't know if there'd be much of a story left to tell.
Then again, Suzanne Collins created an incredible story, so she could probably expand on it and it would be just as good. After all, human nature tends to corrupt things. So I could see a future scenario where the post-Games peace is threatened by a 'Capitolesque' power. Maybe something with the rest of the world that is never mentioned in the series.

So, yeah, I guess I'd be really interested in another book on this.

Zoe I would have wanted a fourth book if the third one had ended differently. I think that the third one was really good until towards the end where it just... ended. But I heard that the author asked for more time to finish the book and the publishing company said no. I think that's the reason that the ending was kind of dissapointing. I also heard the even the author herself wishes she could rewrite the ending. But, I agree that a prequel would be nice if it was about the original uprising and the very first hunger games. Overal though, it is an amazing series and the author should be proud of herself to have been the person that wrote them.

Kaitlin Oh, and something like that really isn't her fault...people don't realize that writing is another business where you have a boss you have to cave to.

Labeebah Hasan I never thought about a prequel to the story as some people have mentioned above. The story of the rebellion and maybe the first hunger games might be interesting, but I think the initial story is done. Personally, I thought it ended quite appropriately. There are a few angles that I would have like covered, Gale's future for example, but overall I was quite satisfied. But the story is done. A sequel just for the sake of extending the universe or presenting events from an alternative perspective is not a good idea.

Kyle The Dark Days!

I agree, a sequel for the sake of extending the story is a bad idea, but the world Collins created has plenty of potential for more stories worthy of telling. It is sort of left open for that at the end of Mockingjay when Katniss is worrying for her children's futures, thinking about how easily everything can fall apart again.

message 127: by Tina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Tina I wouldn't really mind because the end of the third book was a bit too abrupt :*

Allie I would want a 4th book to know about Katniss and Peeta's family, maybe their NAMES?

message 130: by Olivia (new) - rated it 4 stars

Olivia Land I would like the books in Peeta's point of view-especially Mockingjay.

message 131: by Olivia (new) - rated it 4 stars

Olivia Land Or Gales point of view, that would be cool if Collins put Peetas and Gales point of view in the same book.

Understandable. These were things that I thought were wrong with the books, and we're all entitled to our opinions.

Turtles All the Way Down Thinking more about it,I would like to see an anthology of short stories about previous Hunger Games and previous tributes. That way we could see man different Hunger Games, how the Games evolved over the years to become more deadly and more "entertaining" to the people in the Capitol, and how the attitudes changed towards them. I don't think the people in the Capitol would have always been so thrilled about the idea of kids killing each other or that the districts were always so passive about sending two of their kids away every year.

Lauren No 4th book she finished the series with Katniss and Peeta happy with kids i think it was a good ending and besides their like 35 years old now

message 140: by Riley (new) - rated it 4 stars

Riley Boese No. I think three books is just fine. The last one wasn't as good as the first two so I can't imagine how disappointed I would be if there was a fourth one...

message 141: by Elora (new) - rated it 2 stars

Elora I think a fourth book would be okay if it made up for mockingjay. The third book ruined my liking for most of the characters, and I don't know if I'd even want to read a 4th one. It'd have to be good, like bringing finnick back from the dead or something.

Catherine Suzanne Collins should make a story about their kids going to their own reapings...

Catherine Suzanne should write more books, but not continuing the series. She sould write about some of the other characters that we don't really know bout that much.
