SOLVED. Told from a cat's perspective. Not for children.[s]

I read this book in the early 90's and it was a story told from the perspective of a cat. I remember the cat was able to use his owner's computer without the owner knowing about.
As the story progresses he investigates a story about another cat who was used in a scientific research about regeneration or some product use to heal cuts and wounds.
Also, based on the shelf it was placed in the library, I know the author is not american, maybe from england.
That's about all I remember.

I'm pretty sure that's it. I've read some of the reviews , specially a very spoilerish one and I seem to recall everything in it as being part of the book.

No problem. I remembered it because apparently there's an animated movie about it that's quite notorious around TV Tropes for being nightmare fuel.
