Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister

I was unable to get on to talk about the book and honestly I haven't finished it yet. I have had a hard time getting into the story. I think partly because it is such an unhappy story. Even "Cinderella" is miserable. I am curious to see how it ends and what everyone else thought of the book.

I've read about a third of it. I've been having trouble getting into it, too. Luckily it was my only book on the five hour car drive home from Thanksgiving, so I've got a good start.

Is anyone else reading it?

We went out of town as my copy came available at the library. I couldn't get it. So, I haven't started yet. I've heard a lot of people liked it but if no one does we can ditch it. How about we read "Uglies". I'm almost done with it. It's a bit "young", but it's an interesting story. I am about out of ideas. I would love some really great suggestions to read.

I have been unsure about wanting to read this book. I really struggled with Wicked and haven't wanted to try another book from this author just yet. I do have Uglies on my list as my next book to read, I've heard good things about it.

After reading both Uglies and Ugly Stepsister I would have to say Uglies is a much better read. I read that one a few months ago and really liked the whole series.

I have a hold on it at my Library. I'm hoping that I get it soon. I don't remember if there were holds in front of mine.

I am on page 100 of this book, and it has been such a struggle to get into it! I don't know if I'm going to finish it--don't want to spend precious reading minutes on a boring book! Uglies was pretty good, but I tried to ready Pretties but couldn't get into it--too much "bubbly" language!

Thanks for your comments about this book. I have looked at several of his books. I enjoy books that retell classic fairy tales. I started Wicked and couldn't get past the first chapter. Then I tried "Mirror, Mirror" (Snow White). As soon I realized it was about incest, I gave it up as well. (Although, I did enjoy the fact that the wicked stepmother role was played by Lucretia Borgia--could history produce a better candidate for that role? I don't think so! Does he have ANY books that could be considered a "clean read"?

I have the same question as Annie. Are any of his books clean. I was shocked when I read "Wicked" on the suggestion of some of the members of the RS book club and it was full of sex, language and violence. Many people have said that his books are great but I don't want to read them if they are all like wicked.

DO NOT READ IT!!!! I came across it while purchasing young adult books on Amazon. I bought it, my copy went in the trash. That's what this book is, trash.
