Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments Since joining the club and listening to the podcast since around April of last year, I've noticed a few times where the book selection reading time frame went a little long because either Tom or Veronica had prior commitments or just life that was interfering with their reading time.

This got me to thinking that they should be able to skip or postpone to a later time any of the book picks for the club just like any other member. Obviously they both can't do this at the same time.

I wonder if T&V would be opposed to having an occasional guest host from the club when they need to skip a pick for whatever reason. If so then I'd like to nominate either Tamahome or Jenny to step in when needed since they both seem to be able to read every darn pick, are very active in the forums, and have guest hosted on other book podcasts. Heck even *sigh* Lepton could step in when needed for a John C. Dvorak type perspective.

Just a thought.

Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments A good example of where a member guest host would have been good was with IQ84. I would have loved to hear Sean talk with Tom about the Japanese book culture. He already added a lot of information on the forums that was good to know while reading IQ84.

terpkristin | 4407 comments We had Josh do guest spots when we did Shadow & Claw. That was fun.

terpkristin | 4407 comments I guess I didn't add that I think that's a great idea. Of course, it kind of already happens when we do side reads, we just never "formalize" it.

Tamahome | 7230 comments I nominate Terpkristin if the next book has spaceships.

Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments They love me at work since I always volunteer others to do work. Especially if they fall asleep during a meeting.

Isn't the next book supposed to be a sword of some sort? I'll be worried if the sword book has spaceships. ;) :P

AndrewP (andrewca) | 2670 comments I hope it's a 'real' sword book... Robert E. Howard or David Gemmell spring to mind.
