L. Gibbs (ldgibbs) I am a teacher, too, Kimberly, but at the high school level. As you said, teaching empathy is important in every grade, and it doesn't take much to incorporate it into the classroom. Role model it, discuss the actions of characters (as noted in your post that I just read), and encourage it. Thanks for the reminder, and thank you for challenging teachers to include it in their curriculum.

I teach a lot of the standards, but To Kill a Mockingbird, Grendel, and Ender's Game are probably my favorites.
