Did anybody else feel that this book could have gotten more to the point?

This book I thought was ok but not what I expected. In my opinion it could have got more to the plot of the story alot sooner.

I honestly enjoyed it a lot, but I think the title was a little misleading. I think I saw in an interview with the author or something that it wasn't meant to be so much a story of the Titanic as a story of the time period with a touch of creativity. Considering that, I think you could view it almost as a condensed series, with many different plots and subplots. Or as an autobiography of the fictional Jane's life, in which case a single unified plot would not have made sense.

When you put it that way I can understand why she did it that way. I also enjoyed the book but not my fav. Her writing was good though.

As I have already stated, total rubbish with I suspect limited backgound research on both geographical location and actual historical events. Famous names added to try and stengthen the story line, which failed miserably. In my opinion, the story line was overall poor, verging to the banal.

i liked this book, though it may not have been historicly correct, it was still good. i wish it would have lengthened the amount of time when they were actually on the titanic, instead on her life in spirit vale. this is one of my absolute favorite books. :)

What I didn't like about the book is that I knew so much about the Titanic, so when I read the book I kept thinking, "Noooooooo. Don't do that! You'll all die!" But otherwise I thought it was a great book.

Though I did think that for a book about the Titanic it could've included the Titanic a little more.

I only read the book because I thought it was about the Titanic. I waited forever to finally get to the part where they are on the ship and then it fast forwards to it being under the ocean....cool.

i also thought that this book was about titanic. not what i expected, turned out it was about time-travelling? i didn't even realise that they had time-traveled..

No. Weyn explored themes of all kinds. She explored racism, finding yourself, and the difficulties of being in a family. The book has so much about life. It is better then if it was just the titanic.

A friend gave this to me years ago because I am a fan of the Titanic. I read it years later and was disappointed. Too many things go on that have nothing to do with each other. Tesla, really? There was hardly any Titanic in it and what there was wasn't good.

That's an excellent way of putting it! Partially I think it could be attributed to the Titanic not happening 'til more than halfway in. Partially the plot seemed to hang around in Spirit Vale with little substantially happening.

I'm not into historical fiction, but what kept this book from being tossed away was the link the author provided between the fictional story and real people who were on the ship.
