Hi everyone, I'm brand new here and curious to see what everyone thinks about the Twilight series (obviously you're mainly fans ;-). I got to read Twilight while on a recent trip to see a premiere of a film I helped some UWSP college students with. It was perfect for reading on the flight (and while I was waiting in O'Hare) and I thought it was great when a woman (even older than I am--and to many of you I'm ancient at 36 ;-) came up to me and struck up a conversation when she saw what I was reading.I have not seen the movie (no time yet) and just got the second book (they were sold out in my area for a while). I'm not reading it, though, because I'm currently writing "13 to Life: A Werewolf's Tale" over at TextNovel.com and want to make sure I'm not being too influenced by Stephenie Meyer's work. "13 to Life" is a "work in progress" which I began on November 24 of this year. I used input from readers on linked polls to help guide aspects of the action and flesh out certain character details. It's been fun so far (and a lot of work) and I invite you all to check it out after you've read Meyer's books (or when you have time).
I'm only making a certain amount of it available for reading (until possibly Dec. 31st) and it still needs things (I've filled a notebook with additional thoughts ;-)but you are welcome to check it out (as well as the accompanying blog), make a free account(a necessary evil in order to vote and review) and let me know what you think. Although some reviewers have compared it to Twilight, I feel it's very different. Let me know what you think---Shannon, writing as Saoirse
