Yeah, Ken. Completely agree. Back when I was an idealistic, inflamed poet, I started a novel in which Rasputin and Jack Kerouac end up "on the road" in heaven as he's searching for his lost, uhm, member. After four or five brilliant, earth-changing chapters, I gave up. It's gathering dust somewhere. The world is better for that decision.

The pictures accompanying this article are frightening!
That photo makes me think about Bravo's "Real Housewives" franchises.......like in 30 years Andy Cohen will host a Housewives: Where Are They Now reunion show.....and all the cast members will look like the Duchess of Alba.
There have been a few I seem to remember The Rasputin File, and Rasputin's daughter...but yeah, he'd be a good character, but difficult to write, I believe.

Rasputin makes his appearance late in the story, but there are plenty other unexpected surprises throughout. I hope I'm not violating any rules; I have no connection whatsoever with the author, other than she's one of my GR friends.
And, of course, Rasputin was in that Disney movie, right? Anastasia. But Bartok stole the show.
I was always facinated by how he died. Wasnt he poisoned and then dropped off a cliff and into the water and when they found his body it was said he died from drowning?Thats some crazy s#*t!
Yeah, i read he was beaten, poisoned, shot, stabbed -- some think he had his 'man business' cut off -- then dropped into the icy river. They were taking no chances on that dude.

The chair is pretty creepy. The ones where the kids were being pinned down or crushed makes me think of night paralysis dreams as well.

Automatons and animatronics terrified me as a child - anything non-living that moved on its own tended to. I got given a Furby when they first came out and by the end of day one mum had resold it to someone else because I was convinced it was sentient. Mind you, I used to think automatic doors were as well (but benign, unlike the Furby), and kept thanking them. Automatons of all kinds are still one of my favourite horror topics because of that.
