There's a book called "Linux" by Galileo Press. So far there are 5 editions. GR knows about two of those, but they're separate books in the database, with separate titles (which is not correct). Furthermore, one of the entries has wrong author information.

Following is a list I assembled for each edition, mentioning all required information as well as GR IDs should they exist in the database already.

If there's anything I should state clearer, please let me know.

hardcover.

Iluzija O. Istini | 241 comments That was painless... :)
In future, you don't need ID or URL, URLs are needed only when rescuing a book, not when importing. Check, please, if everything is good and have a nice day.

Dominik (dominikh) | 22 comments I always feel that the URL is generally a nice addition for people who want more information on a book.

And the IDs I supplied to avoid any ambiguities when specifying the books (even though I do understand that the ISBN should already cover that)

Did check everything and it looks just great :) Thanks a lot.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I'm thinking in cases like these it's better to have too much information, than not enough. :)

But what about publishers selling their own books on their homepages?
I know this topic concerns above all sellers like amazon or related... but by now, almost every publisher is also a seller.

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments It should be author website preferably or a book info page, the links below the book are used to purchase books. Linking to publisher sites selling should be the last type used if non selling sites are available.

The guidance is on the URL field - not bookselling sites, fan pages or reviews

Dominik (dominikh) | 22 comments I'm not really aware of author sites for German books, and as Cloudedleopard mentioned, almost every publisher sells their books.

Also, what qualifies as book info page? I picture sites similar to this (likely without the social aspect) and that, indeed, has little additional value.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments The general rule of thumb is "link to the publisher site if they have extra information available" -- if it's just the same cover art and bibliographic data that's available on the book record itself, why bother linking? But in this case, the publisher site looks like it's providing a lot of information about these editions such as extended table of contents and search within the book. That strikes me as a useful book link.
