Thea (escapistbooks) I still think that the first book is the best:) I don't think the other two books can give the same impact as the first. Catching Fire is really good, too. It literally got me up for hours. Mockingjay on the other hand somehow bored me in the first several chapters. I know a lot who hated it in general, but I think it's really good and very well written.
I thought that the ending was so lovely that it made me tear up:)

Got to agree with Thea in some parts. Loved the first two books so much. Especially the first. Except I wasn't as taken with the ending.

i also love more the 2 book:D
and yes i also thinks the 3 one was a little i don'n know, i loved everything , i loved the final, the new characters ( not coin) but in some way i think gale ruin the book, that's my personal opinion, i just hate the character he was not how i pictured in my mind he was a beast, and a not-dignity man, anyway i loved the final, i mean the children thing and that i really loved that and the last last last words are like PERFECT! so yes, mockingjay is my least favorite but still love all the saga :D

I definitely agree with almost everything you said.

Betty Cross (bettycross) | 6 comments This is truly a story for all ages. I'm 62, and I bought a copy of HG one Saturday morning just to see what the hype was about. (This was early April and the movie was already an international sensation.) Well, I spent the rest of that weekend reading HG. I seldom get in can't-put-it-down mode while reading a novel, but this one did that to me.

The movie was very good, in every possible way -- acting, direction, visuals -- but part of its excellence is in recognizing and retaining the strengths of the original book.

Betty Cross (bettycross) | 6 comments I'm looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.

Madison E. (madiemartin) This series was suggested to me a little while ago after a friend learned how much I love the Uglies series. I did like the series, but I didn't love the series. I definitely thought the story told in the second and third novels were better than the story told in the first novel. I understand why I felt the first was a little underwhelming-mainly because she had to set the story up. I'm not saying that the hunger games wasn't interesting enough as a stand alone book. What I mean is more that as a dystopian trilogy, I was expecting more in the development of rebellion that I didn't get till really the third book. I know the ending of the series is a little debated but I liked it. I think it was a much more interesting and realistic ending than a "happily ever after" styled ending. In general, my only major complaint is I felt the overarching plot was a little rushed between the end of the second book and third book. I imagine that was probably mostly due to edit cuts during publication considering the audience the publishers were targeting for this series. With the exception of epic fantasy books significantly longer than a few hundred pages is generally not ideal.

❄️ Propertea Of Frostea ❄️ Bitter SnoBerry ❄ (berrynumey) The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins I just love the book and the movie.

I'm like soooooooo Obsessed by this book. My friend says I'm a lot like Katniss and maybe it's coincidence but many people around me remind of numerous characters in the book! F.e. my elder bro reminds me of Gale, my younger one Prim, Rach(my best friend) Madge, My mom reminds me of Katniss's mom....
And my kitten, Buttercup! Though she has blue eyes instead of yellow and with both ears perfect. But no Peeta. Is there a Peeta for me?

:)

My friend River reminds me of Madge. A boy in my class reminds me of Peeta. A lot of people say I'm like Katniss too. I suck with the bow and arrow though!

And my friend Anlyn reminds me of Rue.

Oh! Sorry!

Shelly Shaffer (shellyshaffer) For a really classic Dystopian book, you all should try Anthem by Ayn Rand. It's really short (only 97 pages), but it's really, really well written. The plot is very interesting because the book is written in an interesting point of view.

Shelly Shaffer (shellyshaffer) @ Hunger Games: I actually heard from several people on Facebook who only watched the movie but hadn't read the book and thought that it was violent and "kids on kids violence" isn't something we should condone. I had to tell them that they totally missed the entire point. It was a commentary on what was wrong with society. It wasn't condoning the violence.
It is so irritating when people jump to judgments without knowing the facts. To me, both of the people who made that comments just ended up looking ignorant.
