I've read all three books. I really liked the first two, but I thought Mockingjay was a horrible ending for a great series. It's been a while since I read the books, so I don't remember what each district does. I definitely plan on seeing the movie (not on opening day because I hate crowds).
Yeah the ending was so lacking in emotion. You'd think after all that there would be some kind of release of emotion. I left me to wonder if there was something left to Kat's story, but at the same time I knew it was over.

Probably the Lumber District. I think it's called.
Mokingjay was kind of cold I guess you could say at the end. Like there was little to no love or warmth in her words.
Too many of my favorite characters are gone. :( And some of their deaths seemed unecessary.
^My favorite character in the entire series!! I'm suprised that I didn't put the book down after that.

“Let me go!” I snarl at him, trying to wrest my arm from his grasp.
“I can’t,” he says."

That was when I knew I really loved Peeta!!!! Now that is love.

OMG!! Me too I didn't think that was necessary that was the reason for Kat being in the games in the first place!!!!!!!

Exactly!! I felt like the author was detached at the end of Mockingjay the emotions just weren't right.
Katniss was supposed to feel victorious, but mostly she was just numb and emotionless, and ultimately ended up kinda depressed. She was such a strong character, then to have her lose that strength in Mockingjay was just disappointing.
Very much so!!!! She didn't even consider trying to live her life in the memory of all those who died. It hurt to see her like that.
I wonder how Mockingjay will be handled as a movie....

That's a different way to think about it. I like that the author could have done it that way becuase it was unexpected, but it still felt really detached. She was very detached in the beginning of Mockingjay and to be honest throughout the entire book, but the ending still felt empty like there was suppose to be more...

I'm pretty angry that people posted that they couldn't believe Rue was black and they didn't cry because of that. One: 21st century. Two apparently you didn't read the book because it said she had dark skin. -____-

I SAW THOSE POSTS!!!! That is why I can't stand ignorant people! Skin color/Race does not effect quality! I'm sorry you're a cold hearted bastard if you don't watch or dislike the movie becuase Rue is black. We won't make it in a dystopian world. Please!!!! That is utterly ridiculous and people really need to open their eyes and see what really matters *Ok rant over*

Oh, I saw that. That was utterly ridiculous. O_O

Yeah (:

I agree completely Gabrielle!!! Poor Rue, so sad :( I loved the movie too, pretty well done considering how hard it is to make a movie based on a popular book. I was satisfied anyway. Not perfect but pretty good :)

I loved them. I mean I loooooved them. I couldn't believe someone had written something so dark, but for the young adult audience. I ate them right up.
That said, I think there are some things that fall flat. I thought all the hoopla surrounding the games--the dresses and interviews--was just too much. Going on the show like game show contestants was just kind of sick and I felt like even after 74 years there would be more protest. Even if you think you have no chance of winning the games, or maybe because you have no chance, you would think that someone would be more overt in their protest. They're about the die, why not go out with a bang?
And because there is that chance of humanizing the tributes, I don't know as I think the capitol would treat them like reality show stars. Snow has issue with power and subversion. Why give them a chance to say something that might sway the masses?
I think that is where the book lacks depth.
Once we get in the games, I really do believe that the fight or flight instinct would kick in. That kids would kill each other to survive and that people would watch. Think of the gladiators. Anytime an emperor was having a tough time politically they just put on a game to appease the masses. There is something to be said about humans enjoying slaughter. When people were executed in medieval times, there were always audiences. Its a sickness in humanity that Suzanne Collins really captured well.

I agree completely :)
I agree completely :)
