Librarians for GR in our group - New requests? Chat here!
I've discovered 1987 on Wikipedia as the original publish date, so have changed the one that originally had 1982...
It should be right now:)
It should be right now:)

So if they've had the wrong information it won't alter until someone discovers it and it's changed:..."OK, thanks, Brenda. And I thought it was strange that there were so many with what looks like the wrong date, but is it possibly that it's been entered wrong the first time and them as further editions are added, the initial details are just duplicated so the wrong info is perpetuated?

Oh, excellent! Thank you!
The original date published would be incorrect, but with each different edition being published on subsequent dates, they wouldn't necessarily be wrong. They re-print many times over for popular books:)

And almost all of them had the wrong "First published in..." dates so I assume that was because the first time it was entered in GR it must have been wrong, and therefore everyone who has added editions to it has then had the wrong original date of publication. But all good now! Thank you!
Hi BrendaCould you please add to Penguin Bay ( https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...), the info below.
I have a pic of the cover but not sure how to send it to you.
Thanks!
ISBN: 9780908790579
Paperback, 160 pgs
All Rufus wanted for his sister and the children was a holiday of peace and quiet in the tranquil seclusion of Penguin Bay... But appearances were deceiving. Their arrival threatened so many things: crimes of the present, and ghosts of the past. Rufus could not have known he was delivering them into a frightening trap from which only courage, ingenuity, and a lot of luck could save them...
Here you go Anne - Penguin Bay by James Norcliffe
I found it on a few sites but it's out of print so none of them had cover pics.
Do you know how to add a picture to this site? If so you could put it here and I can transfer it to the book...

I just created a new edition of a book - Winds of Evil - but forgot to add the image for the cover and I can't go back to edit the entry. The cover is here: https://fe.bolindadigital.com/wldcs_b...Could someone who is a librarian please fix this for me?
I also created this edition of another book earlier today - Without Consent - and I remembered to add the cover image this time, but only saved a small version of the photo and didn't realise until after I added it. The full-size cover is here - https://library.moretonbay.qld.gov.au... if someone could please edit the entry to add the full size photo.
No hurry for either :-)
Brenda wrote: "Fixed both Kathryn - about to run out of internet I think:)"Oh, Brenda - you shouldn't have wasted your limited internet time with this!! But thanks!
I've come across a character page for a real person, and wonder how the books about those characters get put on it. Do the librarians have to put the character in the book description? I know I can't edit it. I don't want to post the link here as it might look like promotion.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean Sharon - but if you go to the librarian group and include as much information as you can (including the link) I'm sure you can get help:) Good luck!

Ah, I'll post there later, but to explain on all the book pages under the ISBN ect, there is a section where characters can be listed. If the characters are real historical people and already entered into the goodreads database, readers can click on a link and it brings up a brief biography of the person and all the books that have that character for example. If you were to look at a The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory there is a whole heap of characters listed that are in the book for example
Anne Boleyn, Katherine of Aragon, Jane Seymour.
When you click on say, Anne Boleyn's link it takes you
https://www.goodreads.com/characters/...
and lists all the books and authors who have written about that person
It appears that only librarians can add the characters or people to a books detail page
Ah yes - I've noticed them on different books. I haven't actually done any of that myself, so yes, probably best if you ask in the group. That's pretty good! Some amazing things in Goodreads that I haven't even discovered yet!
