I'm not sure whether anyone can help me here or whether it's something to ask a super librarian. I was just looking at The Rosie Effect on someone's shelves and wondered why it didn't show my rating next to theirs, as I've also read it.

The editions are all combined, but can anyone tell me why, when I look at the first one, it looks like I haven't read it (no rating, has the green "Want To Read" button)? I don't suppose it really matters, but it's strange...

Your review is showing to me on both of them Kathryn. It sounds like a glitch again - Veronica had something similar earlier in this thread; she couldn't see her review but we could. It's really weird so I can't help you I'm sorry! But rest assured it's showing:)

My review (or the lack of it) hadn't actually occurred to me! But that's good to know. I guess I was wondering why it might be, and whether other books might be the same. I might be adding extra books unnecessarily because I don't realise I've already added them!! But it doesn't really matter, at least as far as I'm concerned, since I regularly do a check for duplicates so they would probably show up on that. In fact I haven't done a check for a little while, so I might go and do that now!!

Agreed, Suzanne - it's very handy! And it's great to find that you have several shelved twice and that you can cut down your TBR by that many. Alas, not the case for me at the moment - no duplicates on my shelves...

Brenda, I looked up Geraldine Brookis via 'add book/author' and I get Geraldine Brooks , author of Romances of Colonial Days etc.

Looked up Year of Wonders and I get Geraldine Brooks .

I realise only now that in the second instance, an extra space is added between first and second name. But it's so easy to pick up the wrong Ms Brooks.

Yes when there is more than one author with the same name in the database, that's how they are differentiated. But they are often mixed up. In some cases, there are 3 of the same named authors!

Not really now, lol. I guess I was puzzled that the wrong (less popular) Geraldine Brooks was popping up first. I twigged because it has no photo attached, otherwise I would have linked her to my post in Chat.

You really have to be aware of the 'extra space' rule, don't you? I wonder whether Geraldine Brooks1, Geraldine Brooks2 would have been a better idea. A space is a nonentity, isn't it?

OK Jools I have added that one too...that's actually a paperback copy; I got the kindle copy from Amazon with the cover I put on it. Which ISBN did the NetGalley one have? You can put that here for future reference if you want - it makes the correct one come up:)

I'm not sure whether any of our librarians here can do this - it looks a bit messy...

There are 2 Christine Piper's on Goodreads. One is this one: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... - author of After Darkness. The other is this one: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... - and she also has some editions of After Darkness attributed to her. I'm assuming they're actually different people, in which case I would imagine the editions of After Darkness attributed to the wrong Christine Piper need to be transferred to the correct Christine Piper and merged with the edition already there? Is this do-able, or is it too complex and I should take it to the librarians group?

Hi Brenda, could I ask you to fix up the page count on Empire Day please? It reads as 1page and I can guarantee you it was a lot more than that when I read it :)
I read the kindle version and noticed that the info on Amazon is also wrong, No page count on my kindle.

Lol, my year in books stated it as my shortest read at 1page!
I have switched it to the paperback version for now ;)
