Has Goodreads achieved sentience?? I just went to finally begin the job of getting my brand-new book up on the site, and found it's already there, less than 24 hours after it was published.

Is there some kind of automated process, or did some kind librarian fairy wave their magic wand for me?

No automated process; probably a librarian noticed it and put it up for you. Unless your publisher did it, as they do that as well:)

Have just recieved book The Hunted by Aussie author James Phelan James Phelan which is the #2 book in Jed Walker series after #1 The Spy.
The Hunted pub. Feb. 2015 ISBN 9780733632334 (Trade Paperback)

Have difficulty finding The Spy also as search add book/author doen't show it...though sometimes shows a James Phalen who is not the same author.

You're welcome:) And I will say thank YOU as well, because when I searched for them, I found them on Booktopia's site....after I did it all, I purchased The Spy through Booko (free delivery) as they had "1st in the series" for only $7.95!! So perhaps I shouldn't thank you;)

While I'm not Brenda I have done that for you Julie - I can't find anywhere what the series is actually named, but it is described as the sequel, so I just called it the Evie series.

I dunno how to merge them, I think that's something only super librarians can do.

For individual books though, for future reference, if you go into the Edit Details for one book from each of them you'll see that the real James Phelan is put in the Author field with two spaces between his names - "James--Phelan", whilst the second James Phelan just has the one space - "James-Phelan". That's how they get around having so many authors with the same name and such.

I'd say that since the non-official one came first, there are probably some books in there written by a James Phelan which isn't the Aussie. Best to give it to the mods to handle.
