Excellent! You're a gem, Brenda!

Volume I's ISBN is as follows: 978074517700 X. Can you please help? ahhhh! :)"

Yes, I know how long they should be but that is the only number it has. What is the 'X' for??? What happens now? It does not have an ISBN on the back cover: the Library has stuck a big fat sticker over it:( I checked the publisher's website and they do not have this edition listed; i.e. large pint.
I'll scan a copy of the page so you know I have not gone completely loco down here in W'bool. Otherwise do you want to delete the book since it contains incorrect information?

By the way, I have checked my Library's record for this book and they also use the 'X' at the end of the ISBN.
I've also checked eBay, Book Depository and Abe Books. The copies which match this one all have the 'X' as well. I'm starting to feel a tad irritated by this problem:)

Can you please add it for me and combine editions?
I am so relieved, this was really bugging me:)
Your ISBN was already in the system Bette, so I just stated it was an alternative edition with the same ISBN and combined them all:)
Six Wives of Henry the VIII
When I am adding a book I always search for the ISBN first as quite often it's already in the system but not showing under the title search. That way you avoid doubling up with the same edition.
All fixed now:)

Yes, I normally do that but having on the 'X', that search function did not work for me this time. When I found the '7', I was so relieved that I forgot to go back in and do the search this time. Thanks for combining them for me. :)

Hi Dale - I'm not surprised you couldn't find it and I wouldn't necessarily assume someone had put it up. I have entered some books manually, with the intention of placing a review later, and have found they are not appearing in ordinary searches at all. But if I go to "My Books", they're there all right. This is now starting to happen with books I've reviewed. They can be found in "My Books" but not via an ordinary search.
It's usually best to search with ISBN. You'll never NOT be able to find them then..but if you put the author there you should be able to find the book.

Thanks for the advice, Brenda.

Thank you :-)

Never thought of that, thanks Brenda.

Can anyone fix this simply? Or is it too tedious to go into each entry to correct them? No worries if so.

I found some discrepancies with also a Kate Lance and a Catherine Lance, and I think they are all the same person, so I've put a note in the Librarian thread to see if someone can check and combine them:)

I agree Kathryn, it annoys me as well. But some librarians do that as a matter of course. Depends what you're taught I guess. I'll change it for you when I go online :)

And aren't the things that annoy us strange?! I didn't even notice it when I was reading The PB until I'd finished, but then when I noticed it once with The HoM, every time I looked at the title, it grated!!
I just found one too, look at the Amazon daily deal, and I changed it:) It is odd, but that's human nature I guess;)

No worries! But like I say - the ISBN of the book you linked to isn't in the system yet, so that wouldn't actually have worked for you at the moment anyway! But still a good trick to keep in mind!

No that number is incorrect Bette, as Michael says, they are generally 13 long, but they also have a 10 number. Only 10 or 13:)
