Old news. The lawsuit was dismissed.

Samantha Interesting article. While I did not think of the novel as offensive when I read it, I did think it was a "fluffy" version of civil rights events. But, really, how well should we expect a (self-described) "rich, white girl" to know what it's like to be a black woman in the 1960's?

Shan'o'ban I am disappointed in Kathryn Stocket for taking somebody's life like that but atleast she didn't use it for anything bad. She used it to write an amazing book about an amazing woman that influenced a lot of people on the ways of civil rights.

How did people expect Dickens to know what it was like to be a poor white girl in 19th century England?

Marie I thought the book was a 'light' view of the Southern States in the 1960s but never offensive A great read - no more , no less.
