My book came to me in my dreams.

We all have dreams, some of us remember them vividly. That is how Circles came to life. I am part American Indian and this book is how my own ancestors lived. Some say it is mystical, fantasy. I am here to tell you what you will read is normal. The dreams, visions are all a natural, part of not just American Indian's lives, but everyone's lives--we all have gifts, many unharnessed.

Circles is about a young boy whose nights are filled with dreams of a not so distant future he must try to understand.

There is humor, Spirituality, family life and the joys and fears of a small band of people called, The Fish People."

A wolf and a Great Elder come to help guide the boy, Feather Floating In Water--to help him understand his place in his people's lives, their future.

The book has many things to reflect upon that we are missing in our lives today. They are interwoven within the story.

It is a work of fiction, but seeped in the First Peoples way of life in the 1500's. I hope you will love reading it as much as I loved writing the it.

Normalcy is often a matter of personal opinion and is often based on cultural values and ideas. What is often normal to one person may not be considered normal to another-therefore normalcy is not universal.

Circles presents the ideas and culture based on the time frame when these people lived, and does a good job of presenting the norms of the day.

We all have gifts, but in this modern age we often leave these things behind in favor of more modern ideas and thinking. Circles provides us with a a glimpse of the past and sets a framework for a more spiritual future for our lives.

A beautiful story of what should have been.

Circles is the story of a young Indian boy who lives his life at the time of the first appearance of Europeans in North America. His tribe are known as the Fish People and live their lives peacefully in a canyon hunting, fishing and gathering without metals and where the horse is unknown.

The boy has been given the name 'Feather Floating on Water'. When we first meet him he is eight years old and lives with his grandparents, Hawk Soaring and Bright Sun Flower, and mother, Makes Baskets. They have a beautifully touching relationship and live in harmony with the world around them, giving as much as they take.

Feather is bothered by dreams however. His dreams warn of impending disaster as bearded men make their appearance in their world killing, enslaving and disturbing the harmony of the world as they go in search of gold. His grandmother, a wise woman of the tribe, helps him understand these dreams and guides him through his steps through childhood to an early manhood at age 14. The author takes pains to explain that not all of the bearded men are evil but most do not understand how to live in harmony.

Many in the tribe know Feather is a special boy and this belief is strengthened as Feather makes friends with a wild wolf and becomes a protégée of a holy woman fleeing with her group from the Europeans. Feather takes on a new name 'Shining Light' and leads his people, and other tribes, to a new land where they will be safe.

The story is strongly written and will appeal to those who believe that mankind should live in harmony with nature. If you expect savagery and blood - look elsewhere.
