Setting the mood - photos

With an atmospheric book like Mistress of Mellyn, I thought it would be good to set the mood by showing some photos of the area Holt describes in the book. All these photos are from a Google Images search (I'm afraid I haven't been able to travel to Cornwall to take my own yet - but I am ever hopeful!).

Great pics! There are a couple of photo books that feature Cornwall and Daphne duMaurier's writing and memories - well worth it if you can find them in your library!

I don't know about you guys, but I like to know (whenever possible) about the "lay of the land" when I start a book. Now that we've got the internet, that makes its easy for us armchair travellers.

I'm with you! I also love to have maps available. The pictures are beautiful. Thanks for thinking of it.

I love these pictures. They really help me to imagine what the countryside looks like in the book. Great idea to include.

These are great photos! Thanks for posting them. I should have the book by next weekend and am looking forward to reading it again. First time was many years ago.
