Another terrific installment in the Mercedes Thompson series. I don't know why I waited so long to read this series. Each time I start a book in this series I have no desire to put it down until I have finished it. I think I can say that this is my favorite out of the Mercedes books, there's so much action it made my head spin, it was romantically sweet, and at times I wanted to reach in, drag out some characters and bash them on the head with a mallet. Loved it!

I have no idea why it was a mystery, because there was really no mystery at all.
Well. I am not sure what to say. I have read a few of SL's books including her G.A. Aiken 'Dragon' books & this one just rated "Super Corny" in comparison. Just Sayin'!
Really this is a shorter book than all her others & the story line lacked anything more substantial than you would find in an anthology book.
Sara is a small town Texas girl who has been raised by her grandmother who recently died & everyone is happy about that. Her mother and father were killed by the 'Pride' (lion shifters) and they want her dead as well.
Sara has a couple crazy bickering friends. They are the funny part of this book. Sara's your white girl, you got your Latina & the little spunky black girl (kind of like true blood?).
Zach is a guy who rides motorcycles, not a biker. He comes to town with his pack to find Sara. She hasn't changed yet and is unaware of what she is. The pack wants to take her back.
I know the rest of the books are much better, so I'll keep reading them. This one basically sucked. sorry, but I was disappionted.

"Storm Born" by Richelle Mead
for the "Magic-shelf"
I rate it ★★★★★
WOW! What a fantastic book! It moved a long at a great pace and I really loved all of the characters and the love triangle. I really liked Eugine and I can't believe what has happened at the end with a new kingdom and a new title. The next book will definitely be interesting. I'm moving it to the top of my queue.

Amy- sorry you didn't like yours very much. I hate being disappointed by a book :-(

For the PNR-UF shelf I'm going to be reading, "Drink Deep" by Chloe Neill

I'm following the series too, Angi. I'm waiting for volume 6.
As for this new shelf, I'm picking Changeless
I'm in the mood for some humor.
Good reading ladies!

So cliffie? Darn. I have Eona whispering to me already. Insistently. Something tells me I'll be juggling books this week :D
Oh, wow, you teasers! There I have 5 books I want to finish yesterday, lol.

Eon was epic. I loved it. There was much "awesome!" repeated in the progress comments :D
Something tells me Eona is going to be even more kick ass.
I just finished one of the started books I had, so only 4 calling my name now

Changeless by Gail Carriger
for the "PNR-UF" shelf
I rate it ★★★ & 1/2
Like Sandra warned me, Cliff-hanger.
For this volume, there is a mass preternatural like effect on all of London, and everyone in a fuss over what it could be causing it. Things pick up once it's established the effect moves. Towards Lord Maccan's former pack's location coincidentally.
Outlandish inventions, adventure, humor, and a protagonist with gumption and no angst.
This series is such a delight. Guilty pleasure indeed, but all the more enjoyable because it doesn't take itself too seriously, and so you can seat back and devour it unconcernedly. And voraciously. Carriger's Alexia and her pragmatism makes it so you get to laugh even on the most harrowing situations presented. I'm having a lot of fun reading it, and recommend it un-apologetically.

Maggie Graham knows her place in the pack hierarchy – it’s comfortably on top, bossing everyone else around. As the Alpha of the Grundy Alaskan werewolf pack, Maggie literally has the furry world on her shoulders. So when an anthropological zoologist with Trekkie tendencies comes sniffing around, hunting for ‘werewolves’, it falls to Maggie to interrogate and run him out of town. It just sucks that Nick Thatcher smells so darn good, and happens to have a whole sexy professor vibe that gets Maggie’s engine revving.
Molly Harper is quirky, funny and has a real knack for writing about stubborn women (while still keeping it light hearted).

Yeah... I'm still coping.
I'm so in love with this. I cried, I laughed, I raged, I screamed, I was touched, I loved and loathed. I was invested. Thoroughly. I'm sniffling into a handkerchief and smiling still, for goodness sake.
This is one beautiful book. It's one to savor. If you like fast paced rides, it wont be the thing for you. It's strength is in the evocative side: it paints images in you mind, plays sound you can almost hear, unearths smells and tastes from you memories, makes you feel the touch of silk and velvet in your skin. It's a powerful experience, but akin to slowly drift on water downstream, not riding a roller-coaster.
The story is a bit of a weaving. Threads that seem to just collide and tangle, and them a pattern emerges and the picture comes together. It's quite the bit of magic. The whole atmosphere was dark, mysterious, dreamlike. It reminded me of The Shadow of the Wind in a way, but less dreary and more fantastic. And I'm not getting it exactly right... I'm groping for the perfect descriptions, and can't find them. I just felt so much while reading this.
Wondrous. Enchanting. Moving. Probably the best book I'll read this year, even with the jewels already competing.

Linger5 Stars, finished march 27th
Ms Stiefvater is steadily becoming one of my favourite authors. As I said in my review of the first book of the Wolves of Mercy Falls series, Shiver, I liked it. This liking is slowly turning into something more, something that is reserved only for my all-time favourites.
Now Beck is gone, Sam has to take his place. With the three new wolves he is feeling the burden of responsibility. With every single day Grace becomes sicker, and he doesn't know how to help her. Isabelle is falling for Cole, one of the new wolves, but he is even more broken than she is. There is a lot going on in Mercy Falls, and not all of it is good...
Reading Linger felt like returning to old friends. I read it during the hectic mess that are my review books. I read it when I went to sleep and wanted something comforting. The dreaminess of Ms Stiefvater's writing draws me in so effortless. I can pick up her book after a long stressful day and within a few words get transported to her world.
Another thing I love is how realistic her relationships are. Sam and Grace are still an amazing couple and I was very glad that she didn't insert petty fights to make it more exciting. The only issues they had were things outside of their doing. A big issue in Linger are Grace's parents. Now Grace and Sam have been together for so long, eliminating their oh-it's-just-a-fling attitude, they are getting in the way of their relationship. The whole situation is so life-like. I can imagine parents all over the world reacting the same way.
The budding romance between Isabelle and Cole is awkward and adorable. I think one day they will make a great couple. They are absolute opposites to Grace and Sam, yet awesome all the same. I'm looking forward to see what happens to them in the next book.
One thing I didn't like - the cliffhanger! Argh, now I have to read the last book in the trilogy, Forever. I heard a lot of people are disappointed with the conclusion. I just hope reading Forever is just as enjoyable as reading Linger.

Also, I had a crazy, busy week so I didn't get to read as much. I'm almost finished with my Chicago land book but not quite yet.
Happy April Fools Day! My husband already tried to wake me up and trick me by saying we were late for work... ha! Jokes on him as I didn't fall for it. I know what day it is. However he did get my daughter... he gets her every year like that lol. Are you guys pranking your family and friends today?

"Drink Deep" by Chloe Neill
for the "PNR-UF"
I rate it ★★★★
This book started out like the other ones I have read recently from this series.....it was just okay. I didn't feel like there was THAT much going on. More than half way through the book we are trying to figure out who or what is causing the apocolyptic signs in Chicago. It was a bit predictable but not completely as to who the culprit was. However, the end is where it got really exciting for me. The confrontation between two best friends... one who is trying to save the world and one who is turning toward dark magic and forsaking all those she loves. The biggest surprise comes at the end (I don't want to say what in case there is someone who hasn't read this that wants to!) and you have to wonder what the catch will be.....I think we will find out in the next edition to this series. I hope the next one is as good as the end of this one was.

5 Stars, finished April 2nd
This series is awesome. I'm not going to write a full review for Shadowfever, because I just can't seem to be able to talk about the Fever books rationally. I highly recommend them to every urban fantasy lover and I can't wait to read something from Karen Marie Moning again

I've been looking forward to read this one for so long. It's a great medieval fantasy book, although not quite as YA as it's marketed as. It has solid courtly intrigue and assassins. I very much enjoyed it (:

"Archangel's Kiss" by Nalini Singh
PNR-UF Shelf
I rate it ★★★★
Elena now has wings, but she's considered a new born angel that is weak. Although she is immortal, she can be easily killed by a vampire. She is invited to a ball as an introduction, but all the other angels & Vamps want to kill her. Her and Rafael's relationship developes more. I think they figure out they really love each other.
The only part I didn't like was that the book took a long time to develop & the climax & fighting happened in 20 pages or less. It was fully resolved, but it just ended like Thelma & Louise going off a cliff. OOkkk!

Glad you liked Celine. I become a bit of a blabbering twit when trying to talk about the saga too *chuckle*
I'm having trouble finding a book for the "Readers Choice". How's that for irony. I think it's the lack of direction :P
I actually started and finished a book this week, but it ended up being so abysmal I thought I'd get something else to review for this.
So, to get back from the disappointment, I'll be looking solace in "The Parasol Protectorates"'s humor and will go with the 4th install, I think (Snadra was right, I did end up reading the 3rd right after the 2nd ^_^).

for the "Readers Choice" Shelf
I rate it ★★★★
This volume, a very pregnant Alexia investigates a threat to the queen brought to her attention by a fading ghost, a midst a household moving and some interesting arrangements and maneuverings with Lord Akeldama.
I had so much fun with this. It never stops. And many significant things are revealed or happen. You could almost divide it in two parts, more or less: reveal and happening, actually.
Very entertaining. I was seated to the edge of my chair for the whole final section, in danger of falling from the laughing many times.
