R4: Team #7 ~ Seven Spellbinding Sirens

Thanks (: I love reading debuts because they often show so much promise.

Rydstrom is the Demon King of Rothkalina and Sabine is the Queen of Illusion. He is smart, sexy and sincere. She is unapologetic, sefish, does not keep her promises and enjoys playing dirty. Sounds like a perfect match or Soul mates to me. Sabind is the opposite if everything Rydstrom wants in a mate and queen, but she is what he needs to be coomplete.
I love the IAD series. This was probably my least favorite of the books and it was still a very entertaining read. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I loved this book. We have been waiting for Paris to get his HEA for so long, finally it is here. Paris, Lord of Promiscuity, and Sienna Blackstone, ex hunter and current carrier of the Demon Wrath have longed for each other. Now they must learn to overcome their initial judgements and differences in order to trust each other. Through many up and downs, Sienna and Paris fall in love. As a couple their differences complement each other and strengthen them both mentally and emotionally.

Hey Cathy, how's the household? You have been reading fast lady, I hope that means everyone is ok.

"Magic Strikes" by Ilona Andrews
for the "PNR-shelf"
I rate it ★★★★★
(thanks Taly for the structure lol)
The third book in the series was by far my favorite thus far. Up until now, this series has just been "okay" for me. However, with this edition it has definitely moved up!
The whole plot had me on the edge of my seat hoping no one would get killed. I kept thinking to myself, "Okay if Ms. Andrews has to kill off one of these characters, who could I stand to part with?" There was no easy answer because really I don't want to part with any of them. I really enjoy the friends that Kate has made even though she hates that she cares about anyone. My most favorite part of the story? Kate and Curran are becoming closer. I love that they are still taking it slow though. It just makes it THAT much more interesting.
The questions about Kate are finally being answered which will make the next book very interesting. I'm really looking forward to it!
Lol, you welcome Angi.
I'm picking Fair Game Sp happy to see it matching the shelf :D
Sorry to see you are feeling bad Celine. Sending you good wishes.

Mockingjay sucked you in?
Poor child. Being ill sucks. Hope he gets better soon.

Really, I didn't like the first book as much as everyone else did. It was the second book that was good. It's rated lower though. Now that Peeta is missing, I want to go on.
He's 9 and wanted pancakes at 2:30. He doesn't want to go to the doctor and get his finger pricked for blood.
I liked the first one better. The second felt a bit like a rehash at some points, but it was a great opening for the third. The third was simply breathtaking. Awesome, but in a very different way than the other two.
Lol, I loved my pediatrician. Of course, he never took blood from me. Now my dentist? I hated the guy(he was such a jerk). As for comfort food, I still get into that when sick, but I cook it myself, so poor you. Hope he gets better soon.

Fair Game by Patricia Briggs
for the Paranormal Mystery Shelf
I rate it ★★★
This series is growing on me.
The volume starts with werewolves out, and the consequences to internal issues, namely Charles having an increase of work. Of the extreme kind. Which is having a toll. So, after much discussing, the Marroc decides it'd be good for him to play hero a bit, and sends Anna as a werewolf consultant for the FBI on a serial killer case that's been recently started killing werewolves.
I'm a sucker for procedurals, and if they have some action, all the better, so this volume was right down my alley. The old fay and the FBI lady and the local alpha were very nice support characters, and I'm ready to see what's to be of that little issue at the end.

Every one is on the mend. Thanks for asking.

Good Job!! :D

I was in the mood for a light, fun read and Molly Harper's Jane Jameson series fits the bill. In this book, Jane is in the bridal party for her best friend Zeb's Titanic themed wedding to Joelene a werewolf. She has a new job at an occult bookstore and is trying to figure out what to do about her lack of money. On top of that Jane's family constantly belittles her, steals from her and even brings lawyers into the nasty mess.
Jane is definitely a little crazy, she tends to rant and get a little ditsy sometimes but besides the fact that she's a vamp I can relate to her character. It's great to be able to read a PNR book and also in some strange sense think, hey I know what she's talking about! Overall I really enjoyed this book and have added the nest to my TBR list.

The Replacement, finished March 16th, 4 stars

The Replacement has this eerie fairy-tale feel. It's really hard to describe this book, it's different from the average young-adult novel. I'm having troubles reviewing this book (which is quite rare for me), but I'll do the best I can.
Mackie lives in Gentry with his parents and sister yet he is not their real family. He comes from a place no one talks about. He is something no one talks about. Evil lurks in Gentry, and this time it might get personal.
The setting of The Replacement reminds me of a young-adult version of Derry, the town Stephen King has created. It has the same foreboding feel to it, the same sense of evil. And even though everyone feels it, and everyone knows, they don't move to another town. They are used to the fear.
Horror is one of the hardest genres to write in. To make a story truly scary you need more than just some gore and bloodshed. You need true evil, something that sends shivers up your spine. I love how Ms Yovanoff sets the ambience. Although it really isn't that scary, I refrained from reading this book in bed. I'm very prone to nightmares, and I don't want to meet any of her monsters in my sleep.
In The Replacement it evil isn't just black and white. It has many shades of grey and the main character's perception changes throughout the story. Mackie really undergoes a transformation. From a shade of a person that only wants to disappear he turns into someone that looks problems into the eye.
To be very honest this was a strange book. At times it felt dreamlike, fairy-tale like while at other times it felt like a contemporary paranormal novel. I'm still not sure what to think about The Replacement, and I'm not sure yet whether or not I will read it again. I am curious to maybe read some of Ms Yovanoff's other works. She has an interesting voice that I would love to see more of.
Shelf was announced ladies, and it's Magic!
I'm so happy! I already saw at least 5 books that I'm anxious to get reading just on the first page of the listing :D

I've been having an eye on this book for a while for the catching cover. It has an interesting premise, but recently, so many YA paranormal ruin them that I was kinda wary. Your review is encouraging. Ambiance and shades of morality. How can I resist?

Whisper of Evil by Kay Hooper
for the Paranormal Mystery Shelf
I rate it ★★★★
I always find myself enjoying books from Kay Hooper. I love the mystery and the eerieness that surrounds everyone of her plots.
This book was no different. It begins with mystery when Nell moves back to her hometown, the town she mysteriously ran away from many years ago leaving her strange family and the man she loved behind. She comes back on the premise of settling her late father's estate, but there is so much more to the story. Nell, being able to tap into past events, is sent on an assignment as we find out Nell is an FBI agent now assigned to a special unit that all have special abilities. She's there to find out who is murdering men of the town, with hidden secrets that come to light after they have died.
As the story progresses, we find out the reason Nell left and many other surprises along the way. Throughout the story nothing is given away until the end. Just when you think you know what will happen, it happens, and it's a big twist even then.
I really enjoyed this story. I found myself with a few chapters to go last night but I couldn't stop reading because I just HAD to find out what happened. As usual, Ms. Hooper didn't disappoint.

Amy- Thank you for taking such good care of us! You are a great team leader :)

The Replacement is very different from about every paranormal YA book I've read so far. I think you might enjoy it (:

Thanks!
That KA YA series was my absolute favorite! A few years ago after reading it, I begged her to add to it. It ended good, but it could go so much further. Her answer was the Gathering? I can't remember the name. Anyway... I hope you like it as much as I did! No other YA books ever could compete with it after I read it.

"Angels' Blood" by Nalini Singh
for the "Magic-shelf"
I rate it ★★★★★
I'll go with the sturcture too!
This was my first Nalini Singh book & I sure was missing out not having her as a top author sooner!
I really liked the concept of this book. It was a new twist to the paranormal Lore. Angels make vampires. They are employees of some kind or another to their makers for 100 years & then they can decide what to do & live on their own.
Ellana is a Guild Huntress - She captures the escaped young Vampires who leave before their 100 years are up
She is hired by Raphael an Archangel to hunt down another Archangel. She has the ability to scent Vampires so she is considered the best huntress for the job. She gets paid for her services.
Raphael is intimidating, beautiful & part cruel & evil. He also in in lust with Ellie. Both keep secrets throught this book. Ellana is a strong no hold back kick ass huntress & doesn't take Raphaels crap. He is strong, powerful & has such a following that everyone wants to kill or hurt Ellana, but he puts out an order to not harm her.
It had a great ending, and could have ended there, but it goes on to another book. I had no idea & that was a nice surprise that their story isn't over.
