R4: Team #6 ~ Twisted Sixes

Gah! I don't blame you. I've been meaning to carry on with Outlander, only read the first so far but I really liked it :)

I didn't know what to start so I decided to read the first page of every book I had that qualified but the first line in this one caught my attention.
Sir Mark Turner did not look like any virgin that Jessica had ever seen before.

Review: I really thought this would be my least favourite to date since it's a Psy-Psy pairing. But this is why it worked for me:
1) Katya had already broken her conditioning so she wasn't clinging onto Silence - in fact quite the opposite. Not that I haven't loved StS, VoH etc but it made the book different instead of a rehash of past books just with different names.
2) We saw more of the Shine organisation, a different facet of the war against the Council, and with this came new information and new faces
3) The whole world-building and the thickening plot-line, this is definitely a PNR to be read in order!
4) The POVs, I love the appearance of past couples - there are so many of them nowadays!
5) The Arrows - is it just me who finds something about the Arrows really
It was an emotional end and I hope that we go back for a few POVs from the Shine organisation just like how we get them from SnowDancer, DarkRiver, Councilors, NightStar etc.

I'm so intrigued by the Arrows too! I'm sure a few of them will be heroes in the upcoming books.

Sorry about the misunderstanding, Juana. I missed where that was a re-read for ya.
I'm reading

Forgot to post my review and get us a stamp, gah! (Not a lot of leader on my ship the last few days.)

Review: OK, it is official for me. You guys were right and this book was great.
Yes, Steph was right on another point too. (Crazy, right?) Bones is totally sexy! The boy is smokin' hawt! Also, I liked that his story of becoming a vampire is not all romantic and shmarmy.
Cat is a great character and I thought that her biology difficulty was a great story premise. The chemistry with Bones and Cat is great and her training cracked me up. Ted the truck driver was a nice touch. :)
Overall I really liked this story and look forward to reading more in this series.
Best line: "He poltergeisted my panties!"

LOL, I mean the Night Huntress series (I didn't like the first book in the Hollows series.)

Good Job!!
Go, Team, Go! :D

I am anxiously awaiting my copy of the latest RM book. Enjoy, Dana! Glad you liked NH. Bones is Yum-Me! >;)
WTG, Team! Another stamp! Yay!

I got my book delivered to my Kindle yesterday morning and as I was sitting down to start reading work called and asked if I would work a short evening shift. I knew there was no way that I could start my book and then pull myself away and go to work so I had to wait all day to start!!!!!! [insert groan here]
But man....... YIPPEEE!!!
I started reading and by chapter five I had already caught myself getting dizzy from holding my breath. C=

I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to peak at my books at work. (I can listen to audiobooks if I'm doing clerical work.)

Of course, yesterday I would have taken the audiobook regardless. (hehe) Fingers crossed that you find some more time for reading D.G.
Hope you are all enjoying your choices this week...later my twisted teammates!

Mine's gettin' better and better (some bits kinda dragged in the beginning/middle) with each page. About 20% left. RTC

The book was a solid 4 stars until the end, where they had the heroine in a physical confrontation with the bad guy to prove she could 'defend herself and the people she loves'. Oh please. I hate books that have normal women acting like superman. As if the only way to proof that a woman is as a good as a man is to have her brandish her fists. The fact that I cannot win a fight against the average man does NOT make me inferior. I have a brain after all.
Ok, rant over!

Have fun reading RM Dana!
I'm such an idiot. Picked up the wrong book and read

In historicals, few of the books in the series have a plot in common just the people so they can be read as standalones.

Review: The book was a solid 4 stars until the end, where the heroine had a violent confrontation with the bad guy to prove she didn’t need anybody to save her and she could “defend herself and those she loves”. Oh please. I thoroughly dislike books that have normal women acting like Superman as if the only way for a woman to prove she’s as good as any man is to resort to violence. The fact that I cannot win a fight against the average man does NOT make me inferior. I have a brain after all.
Before that, the book was very refreshing with a virgin hero who had chosen to stay so because of his convictions. He was also very confident, charming and very well liked. He reminded of my husband a lot, who has a similarly strong moral compass.
The heroine was a bit more run of the mill. I didn’t begrudge her desire for survival and thoroughly understood but I thought she had a chip on her shoulder. It wasn’t the hero’s fault that she was in her situation and sometimes it seems as if she blamed him.
Overall, a good addition to the series (pet peeve notwithstanding.)

TITLE/AUTHOR: Dark Lover by J.R. Ward

RATING: 4 stars
REVIEW: This tale of lovers isn't the same as all others. It begins in a bar, where a desperate vampire turns to the race's king for help. This vampires name is Darius and even though he dies he still gets his message passed to King Wrath. Darius's daughter is half vampire and doesn't know it. And thats where Wrath and Beth's love begins. They get together but the difficulties that lie ahead are always going to be there no matter what.

Review:
In Raven Cursed, Jane has agreed to set up and provide security for the vampire parley in North Carolina. Lincoln Shaddock, "the most powerful fanghead in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, had been applying to Leo [Pellissier, Blood Master of the City of New Orleans] for sixty years for the right to become a master of the city." Up until now, Leo has turned him down. He's agreed to meet with him now because one of Shaddock's vamps found her sanity in just two years, which is a record. But, as events in Jane's past have proven, where vamps travel, trouble will follow. This time, unfortunately for Jane, is no different.
As with all of the books in this series, there are a number of story lines driving the plot. The action starts off hot & heavy, wains a bit, then picks up full steam to carry us through to the end of the story. Jane|Beast have some two steps forward, one step back moments. Fans of the series will have some questions answered, some additional questions pending, and will see some real growth in Jane and her "circle of trust" in this addition. She still struggles with her guilt issues, believing that she is responsible for everyone around her, even when she is not. She also continues to struggle in her attempt to find a balance between her Cherokee nature and her Christian beliefs.
This story has something for everyone. We have vamps, werewolves, shifters, witches, demons, and angels. It was a fantastic read and left me, like all books in the series, wanting more. I cannot wait for book 5, Death's Rival, which is due out sometime later this year. Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series should be on every UF lover's bookshelf!

But I remember that I didn't start Mercy Thompson for the longest time because the cover and the description seemed lame. And I ended up loving the series!

Jane Yellowrock is a rogue vamp slayer. The stories have vamps, but they are not the main focus. Hope you enjoy the prequel enough to check out the rest. They may surprise you too. :)

Review: This is a really hard book for me to rate/review.
It was a really good book, well developed, and had some great action. It completely earned the 4 stars I gave it. However, I think this might be my least favorite in the series. It's a great series and they are all good, but they can't all be number one, right? This one wasn't.
Although it had plenty of action, introduced some new characters, and resolved many issues from the last book, I still felt like parts of it had been drawn out a bit longer than they should have and I felt like there were 2 more chapters needed at the end. The end had a very intermission kind of feel to it. It makes me wish even harder for the next book because for the first time instead of being anxious for the next book because the previous was so good at building anticipation, I want the next because I feel a bit shorted somehow.
Maybe time or rereading the series will help my mood toward this installment. Regardless, it was a great book and I still love The Hollows with a fever. :)

I finished my long audiobook and now I feel sort of bereft. The ending was so freaking good
I should start a new book but I don't know what to pick up. I don't want to wait until this afternoon to pick a book.

It's actually in a decent spot in the board...in line with both the ghosts and free space.
I'm not sure what to read for this shelf. I have tons of choices so I may just start several and then go from there. :)

#1 is short in comparison with the rest. I'm mid-way through #6 now it though. Only 23.5 CDs to go!
I need to read a book that also fits Snakes & Ladders (which is a shelf challenge I'm doing in another group.) The thing is though that I don't want to read anything with more than 400 pgs. so I'm having problems finding a choice I feel like reading.
Sigh...
