I'm really excited reading Magic Slays - it's been such a long time since I've read about Kate and Curran :D

I know! Very exciting. ;)
I have yet to write my review for Hunting Ground. Probably tomorrow. :)
I haven't read the Kate Daniels series yet. I don't know what it is with Ilona Andrews but I've started two of her books and stopped because I didn't feel like reading them. I'll try one more time though because I know lots of my friends love the series.

Title/Author: Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs
Read for shelf: favorite supe (shifters)
Date finished: April 15
Rating: ★★★½
Review: Shifters are definitely my favorite supes. I love their strength and their animal natures. One of the things I love about Briggs' werewolves is that they are really dangerous predators, in a constant battle not to let their instincts completely destroy their humanity.
In this installment of the Alpha & Omega series, we see Anna learn to cope with her fear of dominants and we see a further development in her relationship with Charles. Briggs hasn't rushed this and every time we learn how these two people, with such different personalities and strengths, learn to live with and love each other.
The overall plot and conflict was interesting but it wasn't as good as the previous books. There was just something missing. Now, this series is phenomenal so this book is still a very enjoyable read.

I've finished for the favourite supe shelf too :D

Title/Author: Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews
Date finished: 17th April

Review: It was a pretty awesome book. I love the world (I still think the magic and tech wave thing is brilliant), I love the plot, I love the pacing, I love the characters (Ghastek makes me laugh) and I especially love Kate and Curran. I love it all.
It's hard to pick a fave scene/line but here's the ones I can remember (incidentally they all seem to have Curran in...)

@DG: No worries! I don't even think my libraries have it at the moment so I'll probably end up buying it lol. So I can get it whenever you're ready, there's no rush :)

Review: I am soooooooo glad that I finally read this. What an awesome series this is going to be! I love the world that is unfolding here and I already have tons of questions about what is going to happen. How cool was the 'rainbow web' they created, eh? This book was just a huge fantastisicle with a lot of drippy awesomesauce on top. Whee! :)

Review:I liked it but it's a little slow paced for me. Anyway Ren meets Maggie for the first time at the bar where he performs. But he got a little sidetracked and played a song that he wrote back when he was like 14 years old. The only problem is that he was 14 years old in like a long time. So it goes that Ren is not trying not to fall in love with Maggie. Why well because Ren is a vampire, he will want to turn her so they can be together. Add that to the other problems that are happening around them and you've got trouble.

I finished my 'Fave Supe' book (Pride Mates) and will post my review soon. I really enjoyed it; much more than I expected.
Final shelf announced! It's 2011 and gives Teams 3, 12 & 15 a shot at winning. Sorry we aren't in the running for the gold this round, ladies. I will still be picking/reading a book for this shelf. I'll let ya know what I end up picking, LOTS of choices.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I bow to the fantastic taste and abundant knowledge of my teammates! :)

Ahhhhh, Mr. Randomizer. You love us and leave us! Fickle man! ;)

So true! Just left us dangling, LOL!
I read The Thief recently and enjoyed it, Dana. I heard that the subsequent books are even better!

I can't believe the hoopla around that book. Like BDSM is something new!

The thing is that tons of people who probably never even read romance are reading this book so of course they are looking at it from that perspective.

LOL Josie! I agree - there wasn't much BDSM in that book at all. Nothing compared to some I've read.
I've got to post my 'Favorite Supe' review, even though the game is over. Plus, I still haven't picked a 2011 book. Uni is - as always - kickin' my a$$ and keeping me swamped.
Here's the quick and dirty review:

Shelf: Favorite Supe
Read: 20 Apr
Rating: 4★
Review:
I wasn't sure how I'd like this one based on the mixed reviews of my GR-friends, but I really enjoyed it.
Ashley has created a world where shifters are highly discriminated against - they are beasts after all. hehe >:)
Kim heads into the "dangerous" shiftertown looking for help from Liam, her client's friend. Her client has been accused of murdering his human girlfriend. Liam has never been attracted to a human ... until now.
Definitely plan on continuing the series.

This is for 2011 shelf

Title/Author: Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James
Date finished: 23rd April
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
This book is addictive. It's one of those guilty reads, the ones where you know that you shouldn't really like it but it's impossible to stop. It's why I had to rate it a 4 stars and it's the same with any book that made me stay up until half three.
Regarding the BDSM, like I said previously, there isn't actually much there. Spanking, some tying up? People do kinkier things in "normal" sex every day. I especially don't agree when reviewers say that it's twilight with whips and chains. Why does every book have to be compared to Twilight?
The main reason why I think this book is so addictive are the characters themselves. Christian is not the perfect knight in shining armour as Ana first thinks and neither is she the submissive that Christian thinks she is and they find that out throughout the book. I especially liked their emails to each other, very funny and it also allowed them (especially Ana) to open up and communicate more honestly.
Did I like this? Yes. Do I think that it deserves the hype? Probably not. Nevertheless it hasn't stopped me from buying the next two and have already finished the second :P

Title/Author: Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh
Read for Shelf: free space
Date Finished: April 21st

Review: Man! This series is really shaping up to be awesome. :) I luuuuved Vaughn and Faith's story and thought that this was a really great transition from that first 'starter' story into one that expands the main plot line. This showed some the the additional conflicts that face the Psy as they drop out of the PsyNet without going uber drastic on how bad it could be; good progression. The addition of the PsyNet as a character was wicked cool too! Sweet!!!! The development with Faith's father at the end was a shocker and I immediately started formulating theories about him. My brain is like 6 books ahead on that and I can't stand the wait. Muuuust reaaaaad faaaaassssterrrrrrr........ ;)

Title/Author: Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh

Review: Gah! I think Judd is my favorite character now. :) Brenna was great and I really liked how Singh dealt with her victim recovery issue. I never felt like this aspect was overworked and that can happen quite easily. This book was awesome! There really is no other word for it. What a great addition to the main story line. We got a lot of information here about the council, it's dirty secrets, the Arrows, the dastardly deeds and evil plots of the baddies, AND....the addition of the Ghost was super-cool. (I totally have the ghost's ID figured out too! insert smug smile here) I loved getting to see more of the Snow Dancer Clan and the wolves in general. This book was chock-a-block full of main plotline info but I never felt like the personal story between Brenna and Judd was shorted. A really good balance and it speaks to Singh's skills. One more nail in the coffin of my newly developed Psy-Changling addiction. :)

right here on my desk...
at my elbow...
looking really lonely...
like it needs someone to read it...
Oh alright! I'll do it! I'll read the book since no one else is volunteering. ah-hem *cough*

Too funny! You were posting this as I was admitting my Judd weakness. (I think the 'Ice-Man' thing is sexy....sshhhhhhhh.) ;P

Me too, Dana!
I'd like to hear your take on #4. I'm not too fond of Talin (read: hated her with a passion) but this is the book that started the overall arc of the struggle between the Council and the Changelings.

I was afraid that I might not like her and I haven't even read it yet. The set-up on this character looked a lot like the "...you are so strong and sexy BUT you're a killer BUT I'm really attracted to you BUT you murdered someone and I am tortured by it BUT I've missed you since the day I left BUT you drive me nuts BUT.....' and the list goes on. Is she like that? The ones that have the 'I love that you can protect me by killing but I don't like you when you kill' make be qwazy-wabbit!
It is good to hear about the series plot though. The last two have really been gathering steam so I was anticipating something big. Especially after the Nikita/Lucas/Hawke meeting at the end of #3. So cool! :)

Review: I really like this book. Sometimes we all have messed up lives. But Zsadist takes the cake. But then along came Bella to fix him up and teach him to love again. Even though Zsadist thinks he is unclean. Which is ridiculous he should not feel that way. His brother Phury is there to take care of him but he feels like he is at the end of his rope. As Mr. O looks for his wife he figures out she is either dead or alive with the brotherhood. On that time Bella is saved and back with her loved ones but she doesn't want to leave Zsadist. You can guess how he took that. As the Lessening Society gets cracking the Brotherhood experiencing major losses; including Tohr. How is the Brotherhood ever going to recover well read on in the series and you'll find out, I know that I will.

Yup, you got her! That's EXACTLY how she is, the stupid hypocrite. I felt like screaming...if you don't like him killing to protect you, just chuck yourself out of window!

I'm reading two books now that are currently in the 2011 shelf. I'll review which ever I finish first.

Review:
For these two, the question, "Top or Bottom?" isn't so easily answered. They both have their reasons for Dominating, but Destiny can't say no to Johnny when he asks her to submit to him. Why not? She's bored. He's hot. Through their playtime they find a way passed their past relationships and start to explore one together.
There were things about each character I liked and things I didn't. I'll most likely continue w/the series, but won't rush for the next book.

Title/Author: Snow Blind by P.J. Tracy
Read for shelf: 2011
Date finished: April 27
Rating: ★★★½
Review: Murders with moral dilemmas have become the trademark of this series. This wasn't as satisfying as the previous ones mostly because of the way it ended. Also way too much of the time was spent in Iris' head, who I didn't care for at all.
Mel Foster did a very good job with the narration. It was obvious he worked so the voices sounded similar to Schirner's narration. At the beginning I could feel the difference but those things faded after a while.
Overall, a decent book but definitely not as good as previous ones. Still, it was worth the read, specially because of Gino, which is among my favorite fiction characters, ever. :)
