Publisher Adding Books without ISBN?

Currently, we can add books to our list (created by authors who are part of our group) by ISBN. However, there is no option for us, as publisher, to add or claim a book as one of ours via Amazon ASIN - a book for which there is no ISBN. Is there any reason for this?
