Is it possible to have two different Kindle versions of the exact same book, with different AISN numbers, published the exact same day?

Yes; the various international Amazons publish Kindle editions with separate ASINs, so if, for example, amazon.com and amazon.co.uk both published the book on the same day then you'd have two English-language editions with different ASINs and the same publication date.

I'll have a check with the author if this is the case. It only randomly appeared within the last few days which is why I questioned it!
