I just finished Girls of Riyadh, this week. It's an easy read. Worth reading for me as a westerner living in the region. I would join the discussion, too.

OK, created a new thread for discussing the book.
Hi all! I'm interested in reading Shahnameh: The Persian Book of Kings. (I have the Penguin translation by Dick Davis). If anyone else is interested, I was thinking of reading it this summer (starting June 2012). It looks like fun--let me know if you'd like to join me :)
We will start reading The Harafish in anther group next week , if anyone would like to join .

Hello!
Sorry Marieke for not seeing your post earlier! Do you still want to read "Shahnameh: The Persian Book of Kings"? (I have the Penguin translation by Dick Davis)
If so, when would be a good month to start? I'll look forward to it! I think it would be fun to curl up with in the winter...want to start in November, anyone? And if that title doesn't sound particularly interesting, then here some shorter works that I could read instead...
- Specters by Radwa Ashour (Egyptian)
- Sabriya: Damascus Bitter Sweet by Ulfat Idilbi
Happy reading :)
Melanie

Hello Melanie :)
For Specters by Radwa Ashour (Egyptian) and Sabriya: Damascus Bitter Sweet by Ulfat Idilbi , I will re-post them in MENA group year of Eve – stop 6/6 (November – December)2012 , so they will included in our next poll .

I definitely want to read this and already sent for the book. But anytime is Ok for me. I'm reading lots of books this fall. I just will need time for reading this.

I am hoping for a better atmosphere for me to read ...praying ....actually :)"
sounds good to me. Any time will be fine. I really hope it will be a good atmosphere for you then. I'll mark it in my calendar for now and we can discuss it then and see how things are going.

.
I have read Leo the African for another book group and loved it. It's absolutely a read-aloud book. Too bad we couldn't do that. I am absolutely buried in books to catch up on but maybe by December. I would definitely re-read it.
