So, have you ever wondered what the Earth would be without Discrimination? Express your feelings here. Don't be shy or embarrassed, we all want to work toward one goal.

I don't think it's possible, but I think it is realistic to think that it could be improved. This may not be exactly what you had in mind, but I would like to share it anyways.
I want to be an actor. I plan on becoming an actor, and one of my goals is to change how beauty is portrayed in media. (I also want to become President one day, but that one is quite a bit more unrealistic...) It's a big goal, I know, but I think it is something that needs to be done.
That's a good goal. I think that I would probably try to rewind, if not erase the effects of war on kids and teens like ourselves,
Okay, so while Earth without discrimination is not exactly realistic, I think that if we all put in an effort to not judge people because of their appearances, everything would be a lot happier and more peaceful. Now we just need to get the message out there.
When I grow up, I want to go into politics. I am currently aiming to become Prime Minister of Australia and if that happens, my first goal will be to try and limit discrimination. I do not think it is fair that people cannot follow their dreams because they are different. Apparently, in some areas in Australia, not being white makes it slightly harder to find a employment.
What I noticed in Australia's political history, all of Austrlia's past Prime Ministers have all been 'white'
I plan on breaking that tradition.
I'm asian, so what?
Even if I don't achieve this, I'll give it one hell of a try and get as close as I can to it.
Then... maybe we'll work on getting rid of that horrible idea that girls seem to have in their head saying that they have to be super skinny, barely eat anything at all and have no flaws to be pretty.
We might be young, but if we believe we can do it and take little steps toward that goal, we'll be able to make an impact.

You go Lamb! Yeah, The USA's presidents have all been white before Barack Obama, so he really broke a record. I want to be a Lawyer of a Physcologist when I get to that age, and really want to focus on help troubled Teens.

Same goes for you, Blaze! That's quite selfless.

Well, jeeze.... *shifts uncomfortably* O.O Y'all have awesome goals for helping people and going against discrimination and stuff..... O.O I feel so unworthy of your presence!
Nah, not really. I just want to be an architect, that's it..... Though I've often that being a psychiatrist would be cool. Same with acting. Politics I couldn't care less about.
I honestly don't think you all are giving the media enough credit. It's getting better, it really is. Don't dwell on how it used to be and still is to an extent. Notice the change. They don't need drop dead gorgeous models/actors anymore. Things are gradually gravitating towards more normal people. Sure, it's still attractive and normal people, but that's how it is. You can't expect top designers to sell anything if the models are overweight and not at all attractive(I'm not saying that overweight people are unattractive). Though if you look at the movies, especially television shows, more and more of them are getting normal people. Some of them attractive, some of them not. Granted, I have never felt pressured by the media to change how I look. So that may effect my views a little. But keep your eyes open. You'll start noticing how it's changed from super skinny, perfect face, etc., to your more average person.
Okay, sorry for the mini rant. Everyone keeps attacking the media so I'm going to side with them because nobody else is.
Okay, on topic....
I think it's impossible for the world to be 100% discrimination free. There will always be some bad people putting a bad name on their race or religion. There will always be someone who fits whatever they are being discriminated as, and as such being "proof" that all others fall in that category. The only way to stop discrimination is to stop hate, greed, and pride(the type of pride that makes one aloof). Unless someone has Pandora's box lying around somewhere and can catch those things, we're out of luck right now.

Lynx, that's a pretty good goal!

Yes, the media is gradually changing, which is something that we should all rejoice about!
When I was typing up my last post, I was super fustrated because a friend of mine thinks that she is ugly because she keeps comparing herself to people she sees as perfect and is starting to fuss about her image and is starting to eat less.
Anyways, that architect goal seems like a really good goal... Good luck on that by the way. If you can put your mind to it, you can achieve almost anything!
XD

That's sad. :/ Tell her to stop doing that!! She's pretty in her own way. :)
I know I can! :D Good luck to you as well.

A world without discrimination...
can at this moment not exist. For if there are two powers of any variance, there will be discrimination as one tries to get more powerful than the other. To do this, they will have to show that either they are better and the best choice or to show that the other power is a loser and the worst choice. Either way this would create discrimination against the power that "is the worst" according to population.

To face the truth, it is unfortunately not possible. It is like saying that everyone in the world is a goody two shoes, will not cuss, smoke or drink alcohol. Everyone is different and everyone has different views. Though many of us may wish to live in the perfect world, it just is not possible... but we can try, since that is the best we can do anyway.
I will side with the media a bit more now for one reason:
Models and actors/actresses are starting to make themselves look and SOUND more like the Midwest because we have the preferred accent for some reason. I don't know why us in the Middle of the Country are so beautiful *does a hair flip as a fan rolls by then does intense stare into camera*
Sorry, just thought that needed to be added ^_- *wink*

Then I´m going to visit your country soon. London, it is. I got the trip for birthday. :D(Best birthday present ever!)
What day? Where in London? I'll conveniently go on a random trip to London that day. XD
Not really.
I wish I could but the only random trips my family go on are spontaneus trips to the countryside.
Which isnt that bad except when I have my own plans for that day that I HAVE to drop since I dont want to risk facing the wrath that is my dad.
Its also not very fun on wet and rainy days. Which seem to be the most common for these sudden trips.
¬_¬...
I know how you feel. My familiy´s the same, especially since my father dropped his volunteer work. I dunno when I´m going to London. Someday in the middle of May or early June.
You live in Farnborough, right? (Wow, I could remember the name!) *proud*
That´s not too far from London, but as I´m there for only three or four days, I don´t think I´ll be able to visit you either. :/
I have exams during June so I would be busy burying myself alive with coursework and such. Not to mention birthdays I need to hunt presents down for... :( Tis sad... *Though birthdays are fun.*
Well done for remembering the name! Im glad to know there are others who suffer spontaneus trips to the countryside like myself. I dont feel quite so lonely now. XD
When you live in the middle of nowhere you don´t have anywhere else to go bit to the countrysite! (I was the one living near the small town without a shoe shop, remember?)Really sad. My exams are at the beginning of May, which is why I chose the time after them to go to London.
But you are right; it is sad. That would have been the first time meeting someone from Goodreads. :(
I´m having my final exams. As in German Abitur, the highest and most important certificate you can get in highschool and which you need for studying. Just thought you should know. ^^Okay, and my exams are the following: English, German, Spanish, Biology and evangelic Religion (just orally, like a presentation for which you can just prepare for half an hour). I know I can do it; I just don´t know how good I will be. London is kind of a motivation. ;)
Have you been to London? (I guess so) Which sights would you recommend?
I've only been to London a few times and I havent seen much...*Thinks.*
Though I've personally never been on it (scared of heights) I hear the London eye is really good...
It depends on what interests you really though.
I wouldnt recommend going to Madame Tussaudes unless super-realistic wax figures dont give you the creeps.
Oh yeah Trafalgar square I would recommend visiting.
The natural history museum and the science museum...
I would say Harrods but unless you can actually afford something in there all you can really do is peer through the front window in envy. *I have done this. Unfortunately I am not anywhere NEAR rich enough to actually enter Harrods.*
The british museum.
Ummm...
*Thinking.*
Thanks for the thinking. :)As I´m not afraid of heights, I´m going to try the London Eye. And Madam Tussaudes. And maybe the Sherlock Holmes Museum as well. (I LOVE Sherlock Holmes)
A friend of mine recommended a really, REALLY large book store - which I´m going to visit at all costs.
I´m not anywhere near rich enough to enter Harrods as well. ;)
