YESSSSSSSSSSS NERD-OUT!!!!
OK, I am obviously way too excited to talk coherently about this.
OK, I am obviously way too excited to talk coherently about this.

I'm excited for:
-The Battle of the Blackwater - really interested to see how they handle that
-the Houses of the Undying & Qarth
-the "ghost in Harrenhal" scenes
-the Robb/Jeyne relationship (I believe Jeyne has been cast already and they're bumping up Robb's storyline!)
-JAQEN H'GAR!!
-Margaery Tyrell!
-anything on Dragonstone - Stannis, Melisandre and Davos are three of my favourite characters and I can't wait to see them on the show.
-Catelyn, Brienne & Jaime in the Riverrun dungeons (that was a GREAT scene!)
Things I'm a little frightened for:
-the "shadow-babies." Ickkkk.
-Sansa getting beaten in the throne room :( That scene was so hard to read, and when I saw the two-second preview in the trailer I wanted to cry.
Anyone else? Remember to post spoiler warnings where necessary :)

LOL That's hilarious, but I know what you mean!!

I will be thrilled if it comes anywhere near to my expectations.

Re: the missing characters, my understanding is that the roles of a few characters have been merged (there's a new Alton Lannister who takes on the story parts of a few minor Lannisters I think), and some others left out. I think this is inevitable when trying to fit a book with so many characters into a series.
The Ghost in Harrenhal is going to rock. I don't see how they can possibly have the budget to go crazy with the blackwater at full scale - I think we'll either see it from one character's viewpoint, or else we'll just hear reports of what's going on/went on, as in a couple of battles in S1.
Looking forward to Renly's murder - not because I dislike him but because it's so dramatic and the crash for the 'babes of summer' in his following is so hard. He and Stannis and the peach, too... I loved all that stuff. Asha meeting Theon will be awesome too.
I saw the trailer yesterday, and even though I will watch it, I just can't be as excited about it as by the books, there's so much that's missing from the tv program that's not even funny - it's like comparing a matchstick man with a photo...
And of course it's silly to call it "Game of Thrones season 2". Why didn't they call the series 'Song of Ice and Fire' anyway? That way they could follow the different books without being incoherent...

They haven't been cut. I think they're just going to be introduced a little later than originally intended.

The House of the Undying and the Harrenhal scenes were my favorite moments in the book, it was a mix of wonderful character arcs and of everything amazing fantasy can offer (magic, prophecies, fantastic beasts, epic fights, ghost stories, and 3 wishes like in an evil fairy tale). Also what happens in Winterfell, and Tyrion's awesomeness.

I like you name, Tom Bombadil, very nostalgic.

Hello ! As it was said a lot in other ASoIaF threads, Renly and Loras were lovers in the books too, though it was more subtle and hinted at, because we did not see their povs while they were together. :)

George Martin said so himself, and he wouldn't have allowed them to change the characters so much for the tv series anyway. There's a lot of hints in the books. I'm reading the third one right now and there's things like:
"Now sheathe your bloody sword, or I'll take it from you and shove it up someplace even Renly never found."
Loras : "We had... we had prayed together that night".
And generally the way Loras speaks about Renly, how the sun has set for him and therefore he cannot love anyone alse now, and how everyone says that Renly never touched his wife, and that Loras could never be a husband, etc, etc.
It's not the most obvious thing, but they were lovers for sure. In a world so complex and so real, of course there's gonna be homosexuality involved at some point, though it's not the main subject.

Return to the thread topic. I really like the trailer, it looks promising. I like how one of my favorite quotes from the books was integrated onto the trailer. "...power resides where men believe it resides. No more and no less. A shadow on the wall, yet shadows can kill. And ofttimes a very small man can cast a very large shadow."
I am looking forward more of Tyrion's wittiness, John Snows and the Nights Watch mission to go beyond the wall, Greyjoy's coup-d'etat, and Sibling rivalry between Theon Greyjoy and Asha Greyjoy (I heard the her name was changed to something else to differentiate from Osha)

I'm excited for:
-The Battle of the Blackwater - really interested to see how they handle that
-the Houses of the Undying..."
About Sansa being beaten, I am really frightened to see that. But also anticipating in a good way her decline from her foolish, girly-ness; her rise into thinking more for herself.

And, also: I LOVE when Varys says, "and a very small man can cast...a very large shadow," and then Tyrion smiles and I'm like YESSSSS.

OK, I am obviously way too excited to talk coherently about this."

I know, I feel exactly the same. If somehow in the comment boxes I could scream with excitement, I totally would.

I hope I didn't spoil too much with the third one then... sorry, I thought you had read them ! But yeah, you're right, the flower and the rainbow have nothing to do with that. Renly is just known to like his clothes and bright colors (there is also another rainbow banner in the kingdom, and it's the peace banner), and Loras is just from Highgarden which explains the rose. So them being lovers have nothing to do with those details, and people who say so are stupid ;)
Hope you enjoy the third one !

Oh god, me too. Peter is witty and dark and sexy, and omg.
