Natalie WATCH IT HERE!

It is quite epic, I must say :D

YESSSSSSSSSSS NERD-OUT!!!!

OK, I am obviously way too excited to talk coherently about this.

Natalie Why not we talk about what we're excited/scared about for the next season?

I'm excited for:
-The Battle of the Blackwater - really interested to see how they handle that
-the Houses of the Undying & Qarth
-the "ghost in Harrenhal" scenes
-the Robb/Jeyne relationship (I believe Jeyne has been cast already and they're bumping up Robb's storyline!)
-JAQEN H'GAR!!
-Margaery Tyrell!
-anything on Dragonstone - Stannis, Melisandre and Davos are three of my favourite characters and I can't wait to see them on the show.
-Catelyn, Brienne & Jaime in the Riverrun dungeons (that was a GREAT scene!)

Things I'm a little frightened for:
-the "shadow-babies." Ickkkk.
-Sansa getting beaten in the throne room :( That scene was so hard to read, and when I saw the two-second preview in the trailer I wanted to cry.

Anyone else? Remember to post spoiler warnings where necessary :)

Lily I feel like I have been waiting forever for Season 2. I can not wait for it to air.

LOL That's hilarious, but I know what you mean!!

Scott I am really excited, even if there's a few characters missing from this season that appear regularly in ACoK (or so it appears) I'm still eagerly waiting. I am also eagerly awaiting my GoT season 1 blu-ray, which was pre-ordered nearly six months ago.

I will be thrilled if it comes anywhere near to my expectations.

Matthew Harrington Thank you for sharing this! I knew it was coming sometime in Spring but now I get to completely annoy my wife with my excitement. I loved this book and can't wait to see a visual representation of it!

Terry Pearce This does look excellent. I always liked that story about power residing where men believe it resides; excellent choice for a trailer voice-over.

Re: the missing characters, my understanding is that the roles of a few characters have been merged (there's a new Alton Lannister who takes on the story parts of a few minor Lannisters I think), and some others left out. I think this is inevitable when trying to fit a book with so many characters into a series.

The Ghost in Harrenhal is going to rock. I don't see how they can possibly have the budget to go crazy with the blackwater at full scale - I think we'll either see it from one character's viewpoint, or else we'll just hear reports of what's going on/went on, as in a couple of battles in S1.

Looking forward to Renly's murder - not because I dislike him but because it's so dramatic and the crash for the 'babes of summer' in his following is so hard. He and Stannis and the peach, too... I loved all that stuff. Asha meeting Theon will be awesome too.

I saw the trailer yesterday, and even though I will watch it, I just can't be as excited about it as by the books, there's so much that's missing from the tv program that's not even funny - it's like comparing a matchstick man with a photo...

And of course it's silly to call it "Game of Thrones season 2". Why didn't they call the series 'Song of Ice and Fire' anyway? That way they could follow the different books without being incoherent...

Will IV How could they be cut out? They are an integral part of the plot, especially in books 4 and 5.

Therese wrote: "Does anyone know if the Reeds are going to be in this season? I've been hearing around the place that they've been cut out. I really hope not!"

They haven't been cut. I think they're just going to be introduced a little later than originally intended.

The House of the Undying and the Harrenhal scenes were my favorite moments in the book, it was a mix of wonderful character arcs and of everything amazing fantasy can offer (magic, prophecies, fantastic beasts, epic fights, ghost stories, and 3 wishes like in an evil fairy tale). Also what happens in Winterfell, and Tyrion's awesomeness.

Dan Awesome!!! The book was awesome. I like this series because it rare to see series and movies that kept it fairly true to the books. With the exception of Lord Renly and Knight of Flowers homosexual affair.

I like you name, Tom Bombadil, very nostalgic.

Morgane Danny wrote: "Awesome!!! The book was awesome. I like this series because it rare to see series and movies that kept it fairly true to the books. With the exception of Lord Renly and Knight of Flowers homosexual..."

Hello ! As it was said a lot in other ASoIaF threads, Renly and Loras were lovers in the books too, though it was more subtle and hinted at, because we did not see their povs while they were together. :)

message 15: by Dan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dan Lol I doubt they were. It was never said in the books that renly and loras were gay. It like saying Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are gay because they friendship could hint homosexuality. People could interpret things different but doesn't mean any interpretation is correct.

Morgane Danny wrote: "Lol I doubt they were. It was never said in the books that renly and loras were gay. It like saying Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are gay because they friendship could hint homosexuality. People c..."

George Martin said so himself, and he wouldn't have allowed them to change the characters so much for the tv series anyway. There's a lot of hints in the books. I'm reading the third one right now and there's things like:
"Now sheathe your bloody sword, or I'll take it from you and shove it up someplace even Renly never found."
Loras : "We had... we had prayed together that night".
And generally the way Loras speaks about Renly, how the sun has set for him and therefore he cannot love anyone alse now, and how everyone says that Renly never touched his wife, and that Loras could never be a husband, etc, etc.
It's not the most obvious thing, but they were lovers for sure. In a world so complex and so real, of course there's gonna be homosexuality involved at some point, though it's not the main subject.

Dan I have not read the third book yet. Still waiting list at the library. I guess I will agree with you. Just some of the comments people said about the hints of Renly and Loras were so ambiguous like he is gay because he named his kings guard "the rainbow guard"; and Loras went on a bloody rage because he was supposedly distraught about his killed lover; and Loras being dubbed "the knight of flowers hints him being a pansy. I just interpret all these things differently like Renly calling his kings guard "Rainbow Guard" because he doesn't like the plain colors but many and he did make a similar comment about that. Loras going into a bloody rage after Renly death because he was distraught and powerless to defend his sworn king; and Loras being dubbed "Knight of Flowers" because of the Tyrell flower sigil. I will be more incline to agree with your findings once I start reading the 3rd book.

Return to the thread topic. I really like the trailer, it looks promising. I like how one of my favorite quotes from the books was integrated onto the trailer. "...power resides where men believe it resides. No more and no less. A shadow on the wall, yet shadows can kill. And ofttimes a very small man can cast a very large shadow."

I am looking forward more of Tyrion's wittiness, John Snows and the Nights Watch mission to go beyond the wall, Greyjoy's coup-d'etat, and Sibling rivalry between Theon Greyjoy and Asha Greyjoy (I heard the her name was changed to something else to differentiate from Osha)

About Sansa being beaten, I am really frightened to see that. But also anticipating in a good way her decline from her foolish, girly-ness; her rise into thinking more for herself.

Ruby "Anyone can be killed." I love Arya...

And, also: I LOVE when Varys says, "and a very small man can cast...a very large shadow," and then Tyrion smiles and I'm like YESSSSS.

I know, I feel exactly the same. If somehow in the comment boxes I could scream with excitement, I totally would.

I hope I didn't spoil too much with the third one then... sorry, I thought you had read them ! But yeah, you're right, the flower and the rainbow have nothing to do with that. Renly is just known to like his clothes and bright colors (there is also another rainbow banner in the kingdom, and it's the peace banner), and Loras is just from Highgarden which explains the rose. So them being lovers have nothing to do with those details, and people who say so are stupid ;)
Hope you enjoy the third one !

Ruby Actually, the 2nd season won't be just A Clash of Kings, but it will include some of (the beginning) A Storm of Swords, kinda like how season 1 included a little bit of A Clash of Kings.

message 24: by Dan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dan Thanks Therese for posting the new trailer video. It looks awesome.

Jaclyn Hogan This is great. Can't wait for more Tyrion, as I'm slightly in love with Peter Dinklage.

Oh god, me too. Peter is witty and dark and sexy, and omg.

Celise Apparently they are adding in Robb's parts from book 3 so those of you who don't want spoilers about his romance should read that one before watching the show!
