Someone explain... how did people in district 13 know?

there is a part in Mockingjay where Haymitch asks people what actions did katniss do that moved them, that they thought were good about her (something like that), and some guy says "the scene where Katniss sang that song to rue and covered her all in flowers" and the rest of the people also agree.

So, supposedly during the transmission of the hunger games, they deleted those scenes for the broadcast, so people in the districts wouldn't see it as an act of rebellion.

My question is, if noone watched that scene, how did these people in district 13 know about it?

I'm guessing they had technology that could hack into the live feed from the arena and could see everything that happened - not just what the Capitol wanted you to see.

That's something i thought too, but they never specified.. i thought maybe i missed something there...

they deleted it from the re-runs but if the camera was on her at the time, which i believe it was then it would have broadcasted it live i think thats what they saw, because when Katniss and Peeta went on tour in Catching Fire the whole district knew what she had done for Rue, plus there was the bread that they sent her.

I think that they just broadcasted her singing to Rue and that's what districts 13 and 4(?) were talking about. I would need the book with me to know for sure.

May be its like the thing with the wing with the re-runs of the ruins of 13. they hacked in and got film that the capitol supressed. Or maybe haymict told them...

I think I remember that when Katniss was doing all that for Rue, she knew that the capitol would switch cameras during part of it, so the people wouldn't see everything.
I'm guessing they saw her singing, but not the whole Katniss putting flowers over her thing, because she said that was defiance of the Capitol or something.

But they did see her try to save Rue and then cry over her. So, I think that'd be enough to earn their gratitude and see her as a compassionate person.

Like someone else said they deleted it for the re-runs, The Hunger Games is live, it was seen. If they switched cameras or not I dont remember, but Rue's District sent her bread at some point which makes it seem like they must have seen it.

Pretty sure the singing was live, Katniss wasn't sure about when she was covering her with flowers but knew Rue's body had to be shown when the hovercraft came in, so people could have seen that live and again when the deaths were replayed.

Perhaps they hacked in but I thought it was live?! I'm not sure though I'd have to read them again to be certain, it's been a couple of months since I read them.

I think that suzzanes colloins was not that specific about stuff in mockingjay.i think maybe it said that they did show it but cut it off beacuace it was live so district 13 must have been able to see it without being blocked.

Ok, they showed her singing to Rue, that's what was broadcasted, but when Katniss was putting flowers over Rue, the flipped it to another character so that the flowers wouldn't be shown. They didn't have to show the bodies being picked up. She got the bread for allying with Rue and helping her pass peacefully.

Since it was a live feed, they probably broadcast Katniss START to cover Rue with flowers, before the capital realised and switched feeds.
