When I click on "add comment" so I can explain my edit, the command just underlines and doesn't make a box for me to fill in.

Does the same for me, looks like a bug, but you don't add the comment there. There is a box above it change comment that u can use.
Thanks for the verification. I'm used to the ongoing librarian change log that wiki and the edit-book-page save. That is what I expected. Do I report the bug separately, or will it go on from here with you?
You probably should post the issue in the feedback group. They have a folder just for reporting bugs.
