message 1062: by Riley (new)

Riley Banks (rileybanks) | 15 comments 1. I have lived in four different countries (Australia, PNG, Saudi, Dubai), and four different states of Australia (Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania).

2. I have own a famous cat - Bear - who became a character in my book. He may, or may not, be a shapeshifter as well.

3. I have a deathly, paralysing fear of snakes... I'm not kidding. Cannot even watch them on television without shuddering, and never could go into the snake enclosure at the zoo. Have even (seriously) contemplated moving to New Zealand because they don't have snakes.

4. Am a complete and utter Francophile. Love everything about France - the food, the language, the people, the wine, the countryside... Would one day like to own a property in France and learn to speak fluent French. I'm such a Francophile that all of my books have a French connection. In Vampire Origins, Scarlett's father grew up in France after his parents were killed in a car crash. As a result, she speaks the language fluently. There is also a scene where the vampires attend a Bretonnian conversion in Paris. In The William S Club, the first stop on the press tour is in France, and it's also the place Charlotte falls in love with Damon. See, told you I was addicted.

5. My favorite books in the whole world have to be the Narnia tales. I have read them over 100 times, and still pull them out occasionally now that I'm an adult and read them again.

message 1077: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 23 comments 1. I double majored in college. Theatre and Classical Languages (that would be Latin/Greek for those not in the know. ;))

2. I moved to LA 10 years ago to follow my dreams as an actor and while it's still my passion I got tired of waiting for others to discover me. Decided to do my best to take matters into my own hands. Towards that end, I just finished the 6th draft on my first screen play. Something I'm ever so proud of.

3. I played volleyball throughout college and coached it for years...even if I am only 5'4.

4. I'm obsessed with the fantasy/sci-fi genres. My mom handed my Anne McCaffery when I was in 3rd grade and I haven't looked back since.

5. I read ridiculously fast for someone not trained as a speed reader. I can finish a book in just a couple of hours. The only time I run into problems is trying to discuss the book with someone else. See things like names/places I don't really read the word, I scan it and my brain recognizes the format every time it comes up. But when someone else mentions a character whose name might be Keirnan, I will be like who? Oh you mean, Kevin. They're invariably right.

message 1089: by Teresa (new)

Teresa Garcia (teresagarcia) | 15 comments I am going to attempt to be more social. This is such a large group that I know I'm not going to get to know everyone, but it is always good to make new friends.

1. I love science. This was my favorite subject in school, especially geology. One of my high school teachers had a volcano poster on her wall until she retired this year because of this. I am one of very few that she honored this way, and she's still my favorite teacher even though I've been out of high school for around a decade and a half.

2. I was a co-captain of my high school's female ski team and a founding member. The year after I graduated I returned as a volunteer coach to help my brother and his friends.

3. I'm a book junkie. My mate gave me a copy of an 800 page treatise on Democracy and Torture because I moaned about not having enough time left in the semester to read it fully. Most thoughtful and surprising gift ever. We'll be old and I'll still be saying "that was so sweet when you gave me the giant tome."

4. My kids are both special needs. My daughter has a service cat that her brother shares. He gets up to some strange stuff, so my daughter asked me to start a series of true stories about him to show kids that there are other service animals besides dogs, and what they can do. My daughter is co-authoring the next set of three Lightning the Cat short stories and also slowly working on a zombie story. I'm looking forward to helping her publish when done.

5. I love coffee a little too much. My coffee-love has become a running gag at the online role play game that I help maintain. If you ever visit Dragon Hearts and encounter the purple and teal Japanese dragon with chopsticks and a coffee mug...that weirdo is me.

>.> I also like Red Vines (so does my son, who will eat them all if not watched). Not quite as much as coffee though.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that buys in twos.

message 1091: by Savannah (last edited Jun 23, 2013 11:18AM) (new)

Savannah (skyswriting) | 10 comments 1. I love my friends and family more than anything. They will always come first

2. I am a walking animal encyclopedia...nature is definitely my calling lol.

3.I love to laugh and love to make others smile. I tend to be a little goofy sometimes...maybe a lot. But I never like to show others when I am done or upset!

4. I am overly ambitious and my passions fall into a multitude of things such as writing, singing, sketching and painting, playing my piano and guitar, performing, and so on. I've lived the 27 years of my life trying to fit it all into my life to be happy, life is short! Arts and music is a huge part of my life.

5. I live with my fiancé, which I have been with for 5 years with our 3 rescued furrbabies; Harley my little pitt/boxer/lab/mutt mix lol, and Peeka a rescue kitty and also a dutchlop bunny. I'm from California, but moved to Texas then at the age of 17, I moved to NY, then back home to Cali at 20, and now back in Texas haha. Coast to coast, baby! (Moving back up to NY most likely before we get married, and have the wedding there =) If there was a 6th slot to say something of ourselves, I'd say I have a tendency to talk a lot :P

Marni (wonderwmn999) Just wanted to do a huge shout out of WELCOME to all our members!

message 1095: by Teresa (new)

Teresa Garcia (teresagarcia) | 15 comments That is so awesome that you do Irish Dancing, Sopie. I always wanted to learn properly. Unfortunately I doubt I will as many years ago I damaged the ACL and main nerves in my left leg very badly when I blew out my hip and lower spine. I'm healed enough where I can go on the occasional hike, but dancing is very difficult and my leg likes giving out at bad times. I tried ballroom dancing class with my daughter when I was able to observe (her instructor insisted I get out on the floor too and went easy on me) but after one dance my leg was ready to flop. Take care of your spine and hips, it's amazing how much requires the nerves going through those.

Twins run in my family as well, and my extended family is large because my father's generation had around 8 or 12 kids just from my dad's mother, not counting those from dad's dad or those from a later remarriage.

message 1096: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Fieland | 5 comments 1. I play the flute and the piccolo. When I was a kid, my cat would hide in the closet whenever I was off-pitch in the uppermost register. As an adult, when I used to practice the piccolo in my bedroom, my dog would start to howl.

2. If I don't have a large stack of unread books, I suffer from book anxiety.

3. I have a kindle, but I still prefer books I can pick up in my hand. Still, the kindle has done quite a bit to relieve (2) above.

4. I really don't like turnips, but I have a sneaking fondness for creamed chipped beef. Go figure.

5. I love coffee, but frequently pour myself a cup, drink half, and set it down somewhere only to discover it later, quite cold.

6. I used to leave my newly-washed dishes in the dish drain. This drove my MIL crazy, and she'd dry all the dishes in spite of my telling her it was okay to leave them.

message 1097: by Randi (new)

Randi (emberpigeon) 1. I am a certified Vet Tech. I don't work in this field though :)

2. I work security in the public school system.

3. Every spare moment I have I am reading. Spare moments don't happen as often as I'd like.

4. I am married. Between my husband and I we have 8 children.

5. My family is my everything. Without my family I'd have nothing.

message 1098: by Bruna (new)

Bruna (brunakelly) | 4 comments 1. I've always loved reading. In Elementary School I was one of the few who would do those accelerated reader tests multiple times a week :)
2. I used to want to be a writer, but I just don't have that gift of words so instead I just stick to reading!
3. I'm from Brazil but ever since coming to the US I've learned English, Spanish, and French.
4. I love baking! My favorite thing to make is cheesecake.
5. I'm in college studying computer engineering since they don't offer any other computer majors.
