message 857: by Raye (new)

Raye Five things, okay,

1) I am obsessed with musical theatre, esspecially the great god of it, Stephen Sondheim
2) I was deadly allergic from the time I was five until last year.
3) I can't say the word "tired" without a southern accent without conciously trying - and I'm not from the south and have never even been!
4)I have synesthesia. I am an auditory and lexical associator (look it up, it's interesting)
5) I just started a group for those of us with crushes on fictional characters! Come check it out *shameless plug*

message 859: by Moriah (last edited Mar 04, 2013 02:41PM) (new)

Moriah 1. I'm addicted to anything that excites me. It can take a day at most.
2. I think I was born in 1990 by mistake when I actually had to be born in the 50s. Youth in the 70s sounds super fun! (Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin... I'm just saying.)
3. I'm a perfectionist about three things: my art, my job and my coffee.
4. I maintain that I have mild Bipolar Disorder, though many psychologists would say that it's only a low self esteem.
5. I don't want a hug even when I need it. But a smile is always nice :)

Carol Nicolas | 53 comments Welcome Raye ... WOW - Is the auditory chromesthesia (auditory fireworks?) or something else? Where is your group for fictional crushers?

yes i thought that was a great solution so a month ago i bought 2 more bookshelves... i now once again am out of shelves... and i have no more room to put bookshelves as it is i have 2 boxes of books under my bed

message 864: by Carol (new)

Carol Nicolas | 53 comments I have a kitchen. There are shelves and cabinets there without dishes, just books. Sometimes we just have to repurpose, or think out of the box [bookboxes]! I think that the greatest invention was the ebook reader - because I can have more books than I would otherwise have room for.

Niamh225 | 22 comments I just found this group and it's great to be amongst like minds :)
1. I read my first reader to my prep teacher (and the other teachers she had me perform to) when I was 4 and haven't had a day in life since where I wasn't reading.
2. I'm a teacher of English and Linguistics (15-18 y.o's)
3. I have a serious addiction to bookdepository.com. I may need an intervention.
4. Two of my favourite books are To Kill a Mockingbird and Fahrenheit 451 but I adore YA fiction.

message 872: by Niamh225 (new)

Niamh225 | 22 comments I didn't want to make any assumptions Panda ;-) when I was a kid my dad would find me fast asleep with a book over my face and my light still on. A flat mate found me the same way when I was in my late twenties, so I guess things don't change, except now days I have to turn my own light off when I wake at 4 in the morning.

ahh and that is my problem if I am reading I can't fall asleep. Have more than once finished a book at 4:00 and realised I need to wake up in 2 hours so sleep is pointless... so I just grab the next one. although as a kid my dad would often come in after midnight to tell me my light was meant to be off.

message 884: by Susan (new)

Susan Good for you!!

message 885: by Niamh225 (new)

Niamh225 | 22 comments I too am a hoarder, of both ebooks and real. I have downloaded lots of free ebooks and have read only a few of them. My fiction library stands at somewhere over 900 and my non-fiction is another few hundred. I was thinking just the other day what I would put into storage and what I would get rid of if I took off overseas for a while, and it was my books that would be saved. Everything else is replaceable, but I've had some of my books for 25 years or more. Not to mention my childhood books still at my parents' house.

There are far worse addictions to have.
