Janna Morrow (JANNA_MORROW) | 2 comments Hi, I am new to this group. I was looking for a group out of Philadelphia and thought this one looked like it had a good amount of members who all might have different tastes in books! I am a teacher in Philadelphia, but am also writing part-time. I hope I can get some support from members. My newest story is called "Hot Summer Nights". Try it out if you are young teen reader. It is a short novel and perfect for a day at the beach!Janna Morrow

Raven (ravenwood184) Yes, I think the Harry Potter series is worth reading. If you're uncertain, borrow it from the library.

I'm reading Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews.

Harry Potter is always worth reading. It is probably one of the best series out there. The film versions are nothing compared to everything that happens in the books.
If you enjoy YA novels have you read the Throne of Glass series or even the Lunar Chronicles? Lunar Chronicles will be releasing the last book in the series in November and I believe Throne of Glass will be releasing a new novel somewhere between October and November.
I am currently reading the 7 deadly series by Fisher Amelie this is also a very good series to read.

In regard to Toni Morrisons Beloved, as an educator I am in agreement with you, it is a challenging. Some on line resources I use with my students that may help include reading guides at www.readingguides.com, Cliff Notes are an uber assist with this novel. Also, Google Beloved, tons of Discussion guides and outlines that are useful. Good luck.

Hi, I am a teacher of ELA and I teach all of the novels you mentioned reading. I can help with any questions you might have when teaching these novels. Some books, like "Lord of the Flies" I have read so many times and studied myself, so I am an expert at this novel and its themes.

I agree with you to some point, but the truth is that when I stumble over a book I don't like, too long or disappoint me I look for another book to read.... so I end up reading more than one book at a time :P

Or when someone just can't get enough of the reading, he can't do anything else but to keep going through 2-3 books at a time.

Also, another thing which I personally feel most of the time, that at any given time, I need to quench my thirst for the different genres that I read. I find it difficult to keep away from everything else while I am occupied with one book for 2-3 weeks on end.
