Luke tentatively sat down on the soft soil, hoping Mara would come. Dawn's words replayed in his head and his eyebrows furrowed together; did he really have such a positive effect on her?

Luke wandered into the forest, biting his lip. "Mara?" he called out, hoping she would be there.

Mara lifted her head. He was here? "Luke?" She called out, standing upright.

[Christi]

Luke smiled at the sound of her voice, then pressed his nose to the ground and began to sniff around for her. Soon enough, he found her and his smile grew. "Hey. How are you doing?"

Mara laughed at the sight of a human smelling the ground. "Why are you doing that?"

[Christi]

"I was trying to find you." Luke grinned and shifted into his wolf form.

[Eternal Werecat, Aunty Jess]

She laughed again, reaching out to pet his furry head. "Why?"

[Christi]

"Well... I went to Alis with the intent of joining the pack and he told me it would be better if I had a pack sponsor to help me adjust. So I wanted to ask if you would help me out." He grinned as he added, "Besides, I like seeing you."

She blinked. "How are you talking like that? You're a wolf."

[Christi]

"You know, that's a good question." Luke tilted his head slightly.

[Eternal Werecat, Aunty Jess]

"It's very peculiar. The wolf vocal cords cannot form the sounds necessary for speech. It's why we can only speak mentally when in wolf form."

[Christi]

"That's... odd. I can't really speak mentally." Luke frowned, then changed back to his human form.

[Eternal Werecat, Aunty Jess]

"You have done it before." She pointed out.

[Christi]

Luke's frown deepened as he changed back into his human self. "That's right, I have. Ah, well." He shrugged. "What have you been up to lately, Mara?"

[Eternal Werecat, Aunty Jess]

"Same old, same old. And you? You are seeking a sponsor?"

[Christi]

"Yes, I am." Luke nodded.

Mara frowned in concentration. "Dawn from the future might be your best bet."

"Okay. I'll try to find her, then." Luke smiled. "Thanks, Mara."

She beamed over at him. "You are quite welcome."

[Christi]

"I'll see you soon." Luke stared at Mara for a moment before turning and walking away with his hands in his pockets. There was a small part of him that hoped that Mara liked him as he liked her, but he wasn't sure how to go about telling her quite yet. He wasn't even sure if he should tell her.
