Alis frowned. "So why are you here on my land?"

"I am a friend of Mara's and she is assisting me in my lack of battle skills."

"So why were you here, around my pups when you could have met elsewhere?"

"Um... I'm not sure." He was feeling more and more stupid by the second.

"Mara, take out of here. I don't want a potentially dangerous wolf around my family." He growled. "You should know better."

She dropped her head. "Yes, sir."

Luke nodded and walked away.

Mara rose, jogging after him. "Luke, wait!"

Pausing, he turned back and glanced at her quizzically.

"Please don't go. He's not asking you to leave now, just for us to make plans of somewhere else to meet next time."

"...Oh. All right. Where should we meet next? The park?"

"The park, the forest, the ocean. Whatever."

"Okay. The park, then, if you do not mind. It's close by."

"Do you wish to go there now?"

"Sure. But who will watch his children? Will he take over now?"

"It's bedtime for the little ones. He'll watch them."

Luke shrugged and returned to Mara. "Ready?"

"Onward!" He marched out of the forest.

Luke meandered into the forest cautiously, hoping Mara would be around and that Alis wasn't.

A young wolf trotted up, her tail wagging furiously when she spotted him.

Luke smiled. "Hey there." He kneeled down and gently stroked the wolf.

Luke tilted his head. "What do you mean by that?" He smiled slightly.

"I didn't know she was depressed. But I'm happy to help in whatever way I can."

"Yeah, I know." Tristan recalled how she wasn't too happy last time he pitied her and resolved to not do it again. "So, uh, how's Alis doing?"
