He stared down at the pup, wondering how she could communicate at such a young age, but decided not to question it.

Mara giggled and nodded towards the edge of the clearing. "That Dawn."

"Oh," he simply mumbled as it "dawned" on him.

The young blond stood, walking over to join them. "Aunty Mara, are you confusing him?"

"Nah, I think I'm starting to understand."

Dawn sat down, tugging Aden into her lap. "You are?"

"I believe so. It's starting to make sense."

Frowning, Luke allowed himself to change back into a wolf, then stepped forward and sniffed her. With suspicion, he sniffed the other pups. "That... can't be right..."

"How is that possible?" He shook his head.

"My boyfriend is half timewalker and half vampire."

"Would you stop stepping on me?" Dawn growled as the pup at his feet whimpered.

He stroked it softly as he glanced back and forth between the two Dawns. What a strange concept, he thought.

Raising an eyebrow, he stepped back.

The pup yelped and raced over to Mara, who scooped her up and cuddled her.

He sighed. "Anyway. How are you?"

"I'm well. But I need to go find my boyfriend."

He gave her a small smile. "Hello there."

"Yes." Mara agreed. A young man stepped out of the cabin, walking over.

He chuckled, raising a brow. "He thinks I'm your boyfriend, Mara?"

"Luke, this is Alis, the Alpha."

"I keep forgetting you all can read my mind. Nice to meet you."

"It comes with the ability to shift. And we can't read minds, just thoughts and such directed to us." Alis explained. All the pups raced over to see him.

"Now you're given my secret away." Mara teased, walking over and the young man hugged her. "I have told time and time that they think you're my boyfriend when you call me Honey."

"You're honey-colored, sister dear."

"...Oh." So they're not together. I'm learning a lot today.

"That would be gross." Mara told him. "I've already told you that Alis is my brother."

"Oh, okay." He closed his eyes, wondering how he could have forgotten that.

"These are his kids, Luke."

Luke mentally facepalmed. "Oh, yeah, of course." How coukd you forget a detail like that, Luke?

Mara nodded proudly while Alis gathered up his pups, once again raising a brow.

"Is he your new pet?" Mara blushed, looking down.

Luke smiled in amusement.
