Aden raced out of the forest, yipping and attaching his small mouth to her ankle.

Alis materialized out of the trees, Breed and Cole at his heels. He growled softly and the pups released her, racing over to their father.

He leaned down, picking up his pups. They curled up in his grasp, whimpering happily as he nuzzled them one-by-one.

Alis scowled but said nothing. He turned to head back to the compound.

Luke wandered into the forest, taking in his surroundings. Should I really have come? he wondered.

A wolf stepped out of the forest, his ears laid flat against his head as he growled at the stranger.

"I'm here to see Mara," Luke stated timidly.

The wolf sat down, blocking the path. He narrowed his eyes at him, but said nothing.

He blinked at the wolf. Welp, this is going nowhere.

A golden colored wolf jogged up, her tail curled up over her back. She sat down as well, eyeing Luke.

"Hello there," he greeted the wolf awkwardly. "I'm, uh, here to see Mara."

I know you are. Mara's voice murmured dryly in his mind. If you'd used your nose, you'd know it's me.

Blinking, he shook his head. "Yeah. Uh, how's it going?"

Fairly well. The gold wolf looked at her companion. He stood, shaking himself and loping off. Have you come for help?

"Yes, I have."

Are you going to make a formal request or am I expected to read your mind?

"Will you help me in learning how to combat better?"

Strictly combat or other skills as well?

"Other skills would be nice, if you have the time."

Mara smoothly shifted to human. "Come with me."

"All right. Where are we headed?"

"The student hushes and listens to what teacher says."

He nodded.

She led him into a small clearing. "Now shift."

"I am unable to shift unless there's a full moon," he admitted, embarrassed.

She paused. "Do what?"

"I can't change unless it's a full moon."

[Eternal Werecat, Aunty Jess]

"How... disappointing." She mused.

"It's involuntary. I hear some have been able to control their shifts and have learned to do it on their own, though."

"Everyone you see in this pack can."

[Christi]

Luke paused and thought for a moment. "Perhaps I should see if there's a way for me to learn to do it voluntarily," he murmured.

"It would make you stronger. I can give you some prayers if you like. Call on Her for help."

[Christi]

"That'd be great. Thank you."

"You do know who She is, right?"

[Christi]

"No." He'd already made himself look like a complete fool, so he had no problem with telling her the truth.

"Ah, I see. Then I suppose I should pray."

"Perhaps you should go see a priest or priestess to assist you."

"All right. Where would I find one?"

"I'm not certain. We don't have a chapel or anything." She frowned in thought.

"Huh. I'll search for one, then."

[Eternal Werecat, Aunty Jess]

"The closest one I know of is named Arrika."

[Christi]

"Where does she reside?"

[Eternal Werecat, Aunty Jess]

"She may have a dorm on campus somewhere."

[Christi]

Luke nodded. "I'll search for her, then. Thank you for your assistance."
