Parasite (Parasitology, #1) by Mira Grant"

We should nominate it next month!

message 153: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I nominated Mira Grant (Seanan McGuire) for October's author. She also writes the Newsflesh and October Daye series.

Chrizette | 906 comments I am going to miss the archive date of one of the books I am currently reading. Is there anyway to still be able to review it for NetGalley?

message 159: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Yea as far as I have it you can still review it months later.

Mmmmm, maybe I can't find it because it wasn't on my reading list before it got archived?

They changed Netgalley a bit.

Go to shelf at the top.
Then the drop down menu click all.
They should all be there and next to the title click "Add a Review or Feedback"

See if that works?

message 162: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments That did not work but I read the HELP files (lol - I am always the one reminding my husband to READ THE HELP FILES! See, it works.).

If you click on your "Activity" button, you can choose "archived files". Send it to your shelf from there and then you can do your review. Yay!

Awesome! Good to know :)

Lauren Smith I hate the new changes. Or rather, they've made some great improvements, but navigating your list of books is still stupidly complicated, and the most recent updates really messed up my feedback system. I struggle to provide feedback for older titles, and I'm not sure if it will reflect on my stats. Which is especially infuriating now that you have a clear approval to feedback ratio and you have a better idea of how many more reviews you need to be writing.

message 165: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith These are my latest approvals:

The Flight of the Silvers by Daniel Price Snowblind by Christopher Golden She Walks in Darkness by Evangeline Walton

I'm really looking forward to Snowblind (hoping for a nice creepy ghost story) and She Walks in Darkness (mostly because I love the cover but it could be a creepy old thriller too).

Chrizette | 906 comments I am having trouble with my stats reflecting the "old titles" that I reviewed. I am waiting for the tech department of NetGalley to get back to me. I want to try to get my stats up so that I get more approvals.

They took a while to get back to me and the tech guy didn't understand my problem at first. Now he said it looks like some people are having the same problem ie. feedback system doesn't work for old titles.

Did they add the books to you stats manually in the end?

message 170: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Well, I'm not entirely sure yet if the new review didn't affect my stats, because it was only after I posted it that I realised that the book stayed on my reading list. And since then I haven't reviewed another NetGalley title. So I'll have to see with the next one. Hopefully they've found a solution by this point. I also want to start improving my stats...

message 171: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Whoop! I just got this:

Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm A New English Version by Philip Pullman
Rewritten fairy tales by Philip Pullman.

message 172: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I got this email regarding the issue I mentioned above:

"We are now aware of an issue with leaving feedback for some older titles. If you leave reviews for such titles it does not, at the moment, update your ratio, nor does it add to the number of reviews you have left."

So yes, it's a pretty serious problem, but they're working on it.

Will request as well :)

message 178: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I know I should spend this year working on my NetGalley backlog, but I requested these:

Shovel Ready A Novel by Adam Sternbergh By Blood We Live (The Last Werewolf, #3) by Glen Duncan The Girls at the Kingfisher Club by Genevieve Valentine

I haven't read Glen Duncan's series, but I'm kind of intrigued by it so will buy The Last Werewolf ad Tallulah Rising if I get By Blood We Live.
The Girls at the Kingfisher Club isn't really the kind of novel I normally review, but I requested it because it was written by Genevieve Valentine (I like her short stories) and it's based on the fairytale about the 12 dancing princesses.

message 179: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Just requested The Gospel of Loki by Joanne M. Harris (who wrote Chocolat and is now dabbling with epic fantasy, which is what they're calling this novel).

The Gospel of Loki by Joanne Harris
