This book got The Caldecott Medal. It was a really funny book and I enjoyed reading it very much. It is about a Japanese women who cooks rice dumplings for a living. One day her dumpling rolled away and she went off to look for it. When she did that, she ran into the wicked oni who is a monster. He captured her and took her to his house to cook him and his fellow monsters rice dumplings for three weeks. One day she escaped in a boat and then she was able to get away with her magic paddle. At the end of the book she was able to make it back alive and became the richest women in all of japan because she cooked the dumplings with her new magic paddle. This book was interesting and the pictures were really fun to look at.
