Who should have played Haymitch?

I think that the person who should've played Haymitch Abernanthy is Robert Downey Jr., you know the guy who played Iron Man. he would be awesome for the part of the drunken teacher.

I like Woody Harrelson for the role. Although Robert Downey Jr. actually would've been pretty cool for Haymitch, I still think Woody will be great! I imagined someone like him as Haymitch when reading.

yeah I think that would have been awesome too(Robert Downey Jr. as Haymitch), when reading I actually imagined Haymitch to be looking like him :p

Haymitch was mentioned having brown hair in the book right, also being handsome in the past.....
Though Woody has that 'crazy' look in his eyes that kinda suit the role of haymitch...

(sorry, he just has those big , very blue eyes. I think they're kinda scary/crazy looking if they are staring at you )

I imagined an older guy, so when I saw it was Woody it kind of fitted - and he does crazy-come-surly-come-goody well in things like Zombieland so I think he should be good.

Gale is the one who doesn't look like I imagined, although I can't put my finger on why

I thought Haymitch was a much older man when I was reading, so I pictured Michael Gambon (Professor Dumbledore). Then, when I saw the cast and realized it was Woody Harrelson, I had to change my perception of the character.
Viggo Mortensen would have been good, too.

OK, I always, always pictured Jeffery Dean Morgan who played Sam and Dean's dad on Supernatural. He also played Denny on Grey's Anatomy. I don't think you could go with someone like John Goodman, Jack Black, or Zack Galifinankis (even though he's from my neck of the woods) for the simple fact that I need to believe that no matter how far he has fallen he did win his hunger games.

I think Woody did an awesome job with Haymitch.

I think the writers could have made him drunk more often, but Woody did a great job with the script he was given.
