Combining problem

If a book is published as 1 edition (1 book) in one country and then published else where in 3 different books (3 volumes, parts etc)then they do not get combined with the complete 1 book edition.

They standalone unless another country publishes in 3 volumes then those would get combined with the appropriate numbered volume.

Yes, I see it as a problem, too, which should be solved with more options, when creating/editing books here. It's often very puzzling, especially when searching for a series, which is - for example - published in one volume each only in a single country, but everywhere else in two or even three volumes or even differetly.

(I'm currently working on the German author Peter Berling's Grail Cycle, and because one French publisher divides exactly one book in the series, whereas all others don't, I had to create already two different series for one and the same cycle. Not sure yet, what to do with the French single volumes editions, because not each edition is there. That's all in all an unecessary amount of work.)
