Hi, Michael.
Hi everyone! I'm the newest MOD for the Fantasy Book Club. And enjoy giving my support to Bev and this group.Fantasy is top on my bookshelves, but you will also find me reading science fiction and a couple other odds and ends.
I also work full time, making a department store look beautiful. My true calling is art and illustration, but that has taken a back seat for the time being. Creativity can take many forms. :)
So...Welcome again everyone and please poke your heads in, every now and then, to make our group a great place to be.
Congrats on your modship squiggly Brenda, and thanks for helping out around here. I do a little modding elsewhere and so I know it is too often thankless (at best). Creatively, besides writing I've been known to paint, and think artistic magic is a cool thing. In fiction or real life.
Hello, being well past the half century mark I have been reading fantasy for decades. Some of my favorties are older but still relevant and quiet enjoyable. Barbara Hambly wrote the Darwath Trilogy in the early eighties and after reading hundreds of novels they are still in my top ten as well as her Silicon Mage Series. Louise Cooper wrote the Time Masters Trilogy around the same time The Initiate The Outcast and The Master an English writer I believe and they are outstanding. I do enjoying all of your suggestions but these older novels are still very readable.
Have you read the Zelazny Amber books? I'm a little pst 20 myself...ahum...and like soem more or less classic reads.Anyway, welcome.
I haven't read the Amber books, I am more into for lack of a better word the saga types, Order verus Chaos the Dark against the light heros and villians. I like to root for the good guys and hang on the edge until all is well and I like it to take a while to resolve itself.
...Amber is about a "family" that carved a "Design" into reality and forced order out of Chaos, while Chaos wants to destroy them and it.Have you read any of Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion books? (primarily Elric, Corum and Hawkmoon). the Eternal Champion is an agent of the Cosmic Balance sometimes fighting for "Law" and sometimes for "Chaos".
I figure you have read the Lord of the Rings that seems to me the classic Good vs. Evil book.
Anyway I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions.

Just recently I found a book I hadn't read, by her. Hope to do some re-reads, maybe next year.
:)
Hi, I just realized I've been a member for some months but never introduced myself. I'm Peter Solomon and live in the greater Birmingham, AL area. I've read fantasy all my life and enjoy the old favorites. I've more recently enjoyed reading authors such as Brent weeks, Russell Kirkpatrick and Glenda Larke.

Welcome Peter. I am a fantasy reader too (though I tend to alternate it with scifi and romance). The last fantasy I read was Blood Song by Anthony Ryan. Highly recommended!
Greetings fellow adventurers,Whilst being one of the many wanderers venturing through this group for quite a while now, I have not taken the time to properly introduce myself just yet. I blame it on all the awesome fantasy book covers as I peek through the many entries I came across in here so far, blasting away the little concentration I had left, while my original focus was on introducing myself. Also, relocating from the Netherlands to Northern Ireland took some time. So with this, I summon another attempt.
I am a mutant ape living through an Ice Age on a ball of molten iron going 67,000 mph, orbiting a supermassive black hole. Also a wandering wizard, and a jedi carrying along the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, stuck somewhere between fantasy and reality fighting dragons, gazing upon nebulas and wondering what else is out there in this vast and adventurous universe, waiting to be discovered, all the whilst getting lost in the many books that await me on my shelves.
So far I have devoured the pages of Sanderson's words, joined Raymond E Feist during some of his ventures, originally fell in love with fantasy tales as I discovered the Dragonlance, and am currently reading some Salvatore in my new homeland.
Nice to meet you folks, see you around and may the force be with you! Kindly remember that it is dangerous to go solo, so take a Wookie with you! Cheerios!

Looking forward to discussions from your intriguing perspective.
