Hi. My name is Kat and I'm originally from New York City, but I live in Charleston, SC now. I absolutely love fantasy novels. I love reading in general. I always have a book in hand. Unfortunately, I'm a huge re-reader, so I thought I'd join this group to get ideas for new books to read!

Welcome Kat!:)
Hope you find lots of new fun reads here.
Good news.....if you find yourself joining any re-reads, you won't necessarily have to read again to join the discussion.
;)
Hi Kat,welcome to the Fantasy Book Club.
Hello! Im here because the other fantasy online groups I am a member of don't seem to have much activity. Hopefully theres more discussion up in here! Favourite authors at the moment include Rothfuss, Sanderson and lesser known Juliet Marillier.
Hello! I recently published my first fantasy novel, Ohlen's Arrow ... the goal was to write a book I would want to read. I grew up on fantasy classics like Heiro's Journey by Sterling E. Lanier, The Lord of the Rings of course, and the Guardians of the Flame series by the late Joel Rosenberg. I am on Goodreads to learn more about current fantasy works and to learn how to improve my own writing skills.I grew up and live in Western Oregon, USA.

It would be interesting to find out how many new members listed here in the Introductions section are readers only vs. new authors/readers.
I've been a member of this club for many months now and realized I never wrote an introduction. My name is Ed, I live in New Jersey USA, and I am both an avid reader of Fantasy as well as a writer. My novel series Heroes of Aandor is published by Tor Books, and the second book in the series, "The Lost Prince" which just came out in August has been receiving good reviews. Among my favorite books are Roger Zelazny's Amber series, GRRM's Song of Ice & Fire, Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, and C.S. Lewis' Narnia books. I am currently reading "Throne of The Crescent Moon" by Saladin Ahmed. I have to apologize for not keeping up with the group's reading schedule. As an editor, I read all day for work, and then write on weekends. I used to read 53 novels a year, and now I am lucky if I get through 15. However, I enjoy reading the comments of fellow fantasy fans, and have made a few book choices based on your enthusiasm. (Just got into Jim Butcher last year.) Thanks for all your exellent writings. I look forward to hearing from you.The Lost Prince

Robin wrote: "Both my husband and I were born in Michigan - but one year we traveled to New England on vacation and when we came across Lake Champlain and landed in Vermont my husband said...I want to live here...."Welcome to the group.
Steven wrote: "It would be interesting to find out how many new members listed here in the Introductions section are readers only vs. new authors/readers."Yes, indeed, it would be interesting. My impression is that it's a preponderance of new authors, who are, of course welcome....as long as they confine mentions of their books/their profession/etc. to the Self Promotion folder and participate in discussions as readers.
So welcome everyone.
Hello everyone. I'm Evelyn. I am from the United States and i am in college going for my education that will lead up to becoming a veterinarian.
I love reading and writing my own stories.
Welcome, Evelyn. I love reading and writing too.
Hi Evelyn and Maurice, welcome to the Fantasy Book Club.
Hey there. John's the name, and writing introduction posts is my game :) I pretty much like everyone 'formlit' mentioned above, with a special emphasis on Patrick Rothfuss, Jim Butcher, and L.E. Modessitt Jr. I think the Imager Portfolio series is pretty amazing, by the way.
When I'm not reading fantasy, I enjoy back-to-back reading of Robert B. Parker -- a mystery novelist recommended to me by Jim Butcher Himself, and whom I highly recommend.
I'm also a writer, but aren't we all?
Cheers!

Welcome. I took a look at what you published. The premise looks interesting. Added it to my to read list.
Tim, very nice of you. Other than in my introduction, I don't plan on mentioning that I write. I understand and agree: the group is for readers.Cheers, thanks for the kind words/deeds.
Hello! I'm from Milan, Italy. I love fantasy worlds, I grew up with Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings and I would like to increase my fantasy library. I'm sure that this group can give me a lot of advice! During last years I had read especially science fictions and essays, but now I fall in love again for fantasy because I re-start to read The Lord of the Rings, my favourite fantasy book. Sorry if I did some mistake, I'm not very good in English!
Hi Leady, welcome to the Fantasy Book Club.
Welcome Leady enjoy the group, hope it's everything your looking for and more. I know I love it and have come across some great book ideas along with great friendly people as a bonus. Enjoy your reading!!
Hi everyone, my name is ian, i live in wigan england. I fell in love with fantasy books about 8 years ago When i read the first wheel of time book. The imagination of the author fascinated me and ive been hooked ever since. My favourite authors are Robert jordan, Steven erikson, Brandon sanderson, Jim butcher,Patrick rothfuss,Jonathan Moeller just to name a few. I prefer reading series than stand alone. My favourite series are wheel of time, dresden files, malazan, And the ghosts series. Check out my bookshelves to find out the rest, i have not put all the books ive read in there yet.
Hi Ian,and welcome to the Fantasy Book Club.
Hi all! I'm Ross. I live in Cape Town, South Africa and I really can not remember what was the first fantasy book that I read that really got me hooked on the genre. I enjoy books with complex, unique worlds and original plots.
I joined this group to find recommendations, but also to hopefully have good discussions about the books and the fantasy genre in general, as not many of my friends are readers.

Hi Ross, and welcome to the Fantasy Book Club.
Hello! I've always loved fantasy, and now I'm new to Goodreads. I live in Dayton Ohio and am an engineer, a mom, and an aspiring author. My favorite series is the Wheel of Time, but I'm pretty excited to read the next book of the Stormlight Archive. Looking forward to some great discussions.
Hi E.D.E.,and welcome to the Fantasy Book Club.
Hello all! I'm Parvathi, I'm in Bangalore, India. I love fantasy, and I'm always looking for new books to read. I also love writing, and I'm a writer and book critic by profession :)I'm looking forward to my time here!
Hi everyone, I am a long time fantasy fan. My absolute favorites are LOTR and Harry Potter. I'm also into horror and sci-fi, really anything speculative. I love short stories with a twist or something that makes you think. I'm also an aspiring author, but will keep that confined to the self-promotion folder.
