Lean Hearn’s series called Tales of the Otori
China Mieville’s novel The City and the City
Ursula Le Guin's books (my absolute favourite is her science-fiction novel called The Dispossessed)
Robin Hobb’s Liveship Trader trilogy
This year, I’m keen to read lots of recent, good quality young adult fantasy (the more speculative, the better). If anyone has any suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

The Blue Sword my favorite young adult book by her.

It's not unmentionable to tell us you're a writer. Just don't hawk your books and do talk to us about your reading. Thanks.

My name's Josh, I'm from Tropical North Queensland in Australia. My favourite authors are Tolkien, David Eddings, C.J. Cherryh, Feist, Pratchett, Frank Herbert, Lian Hearn, Douglas Adams ..."
I have read a lot of Piers Anthony over the years, while Xanth novels are fun, my favorites would have to be the Tarot Series (3 books).

Thanks Bryan. I haven't read any of those Mieville titles so I'll have a look.

The Blue Sword my favorite young adult book by her."
Thank you Brenda. I'll put the Blue Sword on my list.

At the moment I'm reading the last of the Black Magician books by Trudi Canavan which I find moderately entertaining. Besides fantasy I am also a great fan of Latin American literature.
Hello everyone. I'm Lauren and I live in the West of Scotland. I'm an avid fantasy reader and have been considering joining some fantasy book groups on the website for a while. I have finally gone for it, despite the fact that I might not get much reading done for the group. I'm currently reading Joe Abercrombie's The Blade Itself and I also have the Night Angel trilogy to finish off which I have been enjoying a lot. Like many, I'm also waiting patiently for the next installment of a Song of Ice And Fire.

At the moment I'm reading Game of Thrones. I don't know why I had never read it before, but I'm liking it a lot.

Nigel here. Brit born, but living in Arizona now. Love Pratchett beyond words. I snort way too much when I'm reading him. used to read LOTR every 5 years, but it's been 10 since the last one. ..."
Sounds like we have a lot in common, Nigel. I envy you living in Arizona. One of these days...

What I like other the fantasy,PNR,UF,historical romance,YA,steampunk, some science fiction and I love a good mystery, suspense and thrillers. I like historical fiction and classic literature. I'm also a sucker for books that should come with a box of tissues.

It's really good to see Fritz Leiber getting some appreciation.

Welcome, David. We're all addicts here, I think. The upside is we can hook you up with some really good stuff...

Funnily enough most of the people I know like Sci fi and/or fantasy. But then again most of my friends are geeks:)

I LOVE Brandon Sanderson's works. Also Joe Abercrombie, Cinda Williams Chima, Patrick Rothfuss, and some others...
My favorite series would have to be...
The Stormlight Archive,
The Kingkiller chronicles
The Broken Empire,
Raven's Shadow[tentative]
I have difficulty rating my favorites..anyway, I'm always open-minded to new/old books, so long as they're interesting.
Not much fantasy fans (they're not exactly book lovers) around my circles, so I joined this group :D

I love fantasy, sci-fi and thrillers/whodunnits. I also tend to read YA – Paolini – Inheritance series, Harry Potter, Veronica Roth, Kami Garcia, Hunger Games…
I am an obsessive reader, can’t get enough of books which my partner (who doesn’t read) finds insane. In particular I like series where the characters develops. Not so much a fan of one offs but I have been known to be wrong!
My favourites are Patrick Rothfuss, GRR Martin, Tolkien, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, True Blood (just can’t help myself!) as well as dystopia themed books.
I am keen to find new series so thought I would join for some sound advice :)
