We are starting a grand letter to Suzanne Collins. It will be comprised of many things; questions, comments, reviews, thoughts, etc. We might just make little topics that everyone comment on such as characters, plot, writing, etc. Please everyone comment. We will be sending it February 29, Leap Year. Thanks!

Dear Suzanne Collins,

Please please please supervise the movies all the way! The books are so freaking amazing... Thanks Suzanne! Thank you so so much!

Thanks Primniss. We'll be doing little things such as your thoughts to Suzanne on the characters that I'd love for you to comment on.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) I would like to know if I could possibly get copyright permission to create a Hunger Games themed website? Thank you!

Thanks Nemphisi.

message 6: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 Suzanne, you should write a back story about Panem and an alternative ending, along with a more detailed ending. You're books are amazing.

Mrs.Collins, I was deeply motivated to influence other people's lives by writing. Thank you for impacting my life!

Amen, Lea.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I think my English class put more thought into The Hunger Games than you did. Please tell me you didn't actually consider the symbolism behind Katniss having black hair. Please.

Okay where did you get the idea for the best stylist to want to do 12 and why is he actully humanly formed (or whatever) like no extravagent makeup or colors or such?

message 18: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new)

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Good question.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

BECAUSE MY CINNA IS AMAZING. THE END.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, go on and discuss. :) I've presented my opinion.

Maybe the last stylist died and he was up for the job next to replace any stylist from any district

message 22: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new)

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Maybe. And maybe he just liked District 12.

message 23: by LEX, I love PSYCH (new)

LEX (lydiapatch) | 1015 comments Mod
I guess. Maybe nobody trusted him tobdo capitol people so they said he could have a district. And then ofcourse him being awesome and all that he wanted twelve.

Anything you guys want to say to Collins concerning the character of Katniss Everdeen?

She whines too much.

message 26: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new)

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
I agree. She's a complainer.

Hey! Sorry...She is relatable and I liked her.

message 28: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new)

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Hey, I'm not saying I'm not. I am sadly a complainer (I'M GETTING BETTER!) But I'm not saying she complains constantly.

message 29: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new)

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Besides I will openly admit that:
a) I am nothing like Katniss whatsoever
b) I found her a little hard to relate too
c) I didn't love her character.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

^Agree and I think we should put something in the letter about religion!! and y there wasn't any!!

message 31: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new)

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Amen to that.

Well, a lot of the time books with light mentions of religion garner tons of negative feedback from churches for blasphemy. Plus, Katniss, living after what we can call the apocalypse, probably studied about religion in history class. Never practiced it.

message 33: by Emily (new)

Emily (elmwoo) Religon is a touchy subject so I think it was a good idea for Suzanne to avoid it. I dont think the absence of religon affected the greatness of the story.

i really liked the way characters changes throughout the series due to different events that happen to them. I do think that Katniss became a bitter whiney butt, but thats one way a person would deal with the situations she had to deal with. it was not her fault she became that way, but I think theres were enough different ways to write about how Katniss changes and i think Suzanne chose one of the not so great ways and made many people hate Katniss because that was the kind of person she became.

I see your point. Yes, they do get a lot of negativity. But all books do. I just think Religion is a sore spot.

It shows how when you become famous you have haters and lovers and I think being well-known can kind of mess up your life.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

I wouldn't put any strong opinions about religion in my book. Unless it needed some kind of faith to fall back on. But I wouldn't want to deal w/ all the crap.
no religion=very broad audience

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) I agree.

Yeah, my sister wants to be famous and I want to know why. Being popula or famous makes many people want to know every detail of your life. Also if you are popular enough there are going to be two types of people who follow you on twitter. The lovers who worship the ground you once walked on and the haters who take anything they can and twist it into something ugly and gross. I feel really bad for celebrities. I really only care about the things they do in their career, not their home life. I don't understand people who buy tissues used by famous people. It's just crazy. I'm fine with talking about what the person has done in their career, in this case the books she has written. I think it is fine to discuss their life's work, but their lives is a bit much. (sorry for te off topicness)

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Because there are so many religions in the world, a book with a religious basis would just offend a bunch of people. I, myself, am pretty tolerant, but there are a bunch of people that feel so strongly about their religion that they ripped up The Da Vinci Code at my school. It was a good idea for Mrs. Collins to avoid religion.

You're fine. Being famous is hard. People use your past and everything you are against you. Besides it screws up your life. You can't go anywhere without being recognized and you have the media and poparazzi.

If i ever became famous i would try to ne boring so nobody comes after me... thet sounded better in my head. I think we should just mail the link to this site to her and she could possibly answer our questions right online...

message 44: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new)

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Maybe. I say we do both. E-mail, send a letter, and send the link. The more we send the better the chance. I sent an essay I wrote about Foreign Oil Processing and whatever to the President and I e-mailed and sent a letter just to make sure I had the best chances of replying.

Suzanne Collins, where did you get your inspiration?

I think they mentioned it. The story of Theseus and the Minotaur..and reality tv

message 48: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new)

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Oh yes, but I want to hear it from Collins herself too. I also want to know what gave her inspiration for the Hunger Games, Panem, Snow, Katniss, etc.

message 49: by LEX, I love PSYCH (new)

LEX (lydiapatch) | 1015 comments Mod
Yeah most authors have people inspire them for people that they put in their books.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

Actually, she said she was channel-surfing and her mind kind of got stuck between war coverage and a reality TV show. Ta-da, the Hunger Games are born.
